ARRGGHHH my aching body! (forgive the rant)
we have rain today -- and that means alot of pain for me

been getting increasingly worse over the past 10 years (give or take a month or two)

On a scale of 1-10, with an abcessed tooth being a 5 -- my pain index is around 6 1/2 right now

the only pain meds that do any good are the ones that knock me on my butt and or make me extremely loopy (these don't help with the pain, but it puts me into la-la land where I don't care that I hurt)

been through the medical-mill with EMGs and MRIs, physical therapy, trigger point injections, cortizone shots, nerve-block injections -- nada

been to orthopedic surgeons, sports med doctors and pain management specialists -- nada

they all say that I have a "pinched" nerve in my lower shoulder area, or upper shoulder area, or elbow or neck... plus a few "bulging" disks in my neck

but they can't or won't do anything about it at this time -- not bad enough for an operation

at first I was told it was bursitis, then it was thorasic outlet syndrome, then it was repetitive stress syndrome

I've come to the conclusion that they don't know what it is, and when/if they ever figure it out -- they won't be able to do anything about it

am I frustrated? You bet. am I getting depressed over this today? yup

1. I'm right there with ya, friend . . .
I live in chronic pain (back injury w/nerve damage), but changes in the barometer frequently kick off "breakthrough" pain that just about floors me . . . been up all night just trying to cope, now just waiting for it to run its course (generally about 24 hours or so) . . . this is the kind of pain that even the strongest meds can't handle . . . all they do is take the edge off a bit and make it bearable enough not to jump off a bridge or something . . . so warm regards to you . . . know that you're not alone . . .

3. can't speak for radfringe, but for me . . .
any dramatic change in the barometer can put me into almost unbearable pain . . . sensitivity to barometric pressure seems to be fairly common among folks with some kinds of chronic pain, as does sensitivity to damp weather . . . I don't think anyone knows precisely why . . . all I can tell you is that it's a very, very real phenomenon . . .

4. one word:
chiropractor.

Traditional doctors can't do squat for most of the things you mentioned. You need several weekly visits to a good chiropractor for a few months...They will fix you right up. I had a pinched nerve and it worked like a charm for me. Give it a shot.

5. two words . . . NO WAY! . . .
it was a chiropractor who got me into this mess in the first place . . . wouldn't see one again under any circumstances . . . and I advise everyone I know the same . . .

7. You're going to die if you don't get that absessed tooth out...
Go now to the dentist. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Skip had one a few years back, and he swelled up pretty good, and had this really nasty stuff coming out of it...That stuff'll kill ya. Go now!
