I lost a great-aunt today.

My maternal grandfather's sister has just lost a 4-year battle with breast cancer. She was 79. She died just just before 1 p.m. EST today.
And cancer runs in the family, too: My great-grandfather and two great-uncles also died of the disease.

I also lost my aunt yesterday (she was 86 and had several strokes), so I know how difficult it is. I had not seen her for several years, but her death brought back so many memories. I am also a breast cancer survivor, so that part of your message also resonates with me.

I'm holding up pretty well. I'm just worried about my grandfather and great-uncle; they -- and my cousins -- are especially devastated. My other great-aunt, on the other hand, is a rock compared to my grandfather and great-uncle, though she, too, is hurting.

And now there are only three siblings remaining. Peace.
