1. I thought it presented a one-sided view of the event
The Mexican perspective was barely presented, which was disappointing to me.

If you wonder what did it in, look no further than the #1 movie.

2. Good reviews??
Rotten Tomatoes shows it with only 30% favorable:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/TheAlamo-1131222/

A quick scan of the quotes shows a preponderance of descriptions like "oppressively solemn," "little but boredom," and "emotionally inert."

Doesn't seem to need much explaining to me.

5. I had no desire to see anything that had to do with Texas.
With all due respect to the real Alamo fighters, Texas is in the crapper these days as far as a state which really has done any good for this country lately. We don't need their property rights, might-makes-right, wildcatting, rugged indivdualist, adverse possessor, good ole boy ways.

10. Well, apparently some do
Because this post would have never been started if true. I haven't seen the movie, and I'm a Texan. But I believe this isn't all about the movie, it's just another attempt by some here to get some more Texas bashing in. A very popular activity here.

11. Amen...
I'm from Texas, am not interested in the movie, and actually don't care about the Alamo at all. In fact hearing about it annoys me because apparently I'm supposed to care or something about a bunch of slaveowners. But this Texas dissing should just stop because it just shows up the basic impotence of the ones doing the bashing. Where does it get them?-they just feel better for a second and nothing does forward. It's just emblematic of the lazy, knee-jerk, nuance-free thinking which has infected everyone in the last three years.

12. Did the movie rehash the same old myths, or did it deal in facts?
Facts like, the idea that Texas was defended by natives fighting for their homeland, the truth is that many of the soldiers who died were paid mercenaries most likely looking to get some land once the fighting was over.

A lot of people don't enjoy having their fantasy bubble bursted, I'm guessing.
