FORGET wool, coal or even Nicole Kidman - bull semen is proving to be one of the biggest Aussie exports yet.

The sought-after fluid is fetching top dollar with overseas cattle breeders because of its purity.

The US, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK are buying straws of the semen to inseminate their cows, hoping that the Aussie bull's different bloodlines and genetic make-up will increase the yield of their herds.

Graham Jordan, the federal president of the Simmental Society and a semen exporter, said Australian bull semen was popular because it was seen as clean.
