Question about campaign funds of unsuccessful candidates

Ok, say Kerry wins the nomination. Just for the sake of argument.

What would/could Dean, Gephardt et al do with the campaign funds they have accrued up to that point? Do they just keep the money? Can they give it to Kerry, in this example?

I think all the Dem candidates should pledge to support the eventual nominee to the utmost of their resources.

1. In past, transfers have gone to DNC & State parties

Some keep their funds for other political races in the future though.
