There was some awesome events today at the Senate hearings on the costs in Iraq including many accusations of dishonesty, missing WMDs, PNAC letter written in 1998, etc. All hurled in Wolfies face. If this doesn't make the mainstream news we will know just how in bed with the neo-cons they are.

Chaffee was wonderful. He told Wolfowitz :" I resent when you say attacking Iraq was due to 9/11, when you signed the PNAC letter back in the 90's." He also wanted proof that Iraq was a threat to the US.

Feingold agreed with Chaffee and talked about shifting justifications for war.

Boxer wanted the statement from the White house, listing the countries after 9/11with terrorist put into the record.......because Iraq was not listed.

If some of these statements don't find air time.....there is really something wrong.

one point that has struck me:

there was a major article posted here a while ago about Bremner's projection for the money needed for the Iraqi electricity industry. It was 1 bn a year for 5 years.

From the beginning of this meeting, it is quoted that Bremner thinks that 13.5 bn is needed (possibly no time scale mentioned). Outside agencies think 21 bn.

I don't think it takes too much guessing to realise that any costs of Iraq reconstruction quoted in the mainstream media have suffered a bit of downward creative accounting. For now I would suggest that any figure for the costs of reconstruction quoted by the media should be multiplied by something between two to five.

I am so glad my senator (Corzine) brought up our six dead New Jerseyans. Whenever I see a story of a soldier who has die there on the frontpage of the Star-Ledger it is a kick in the gut. I just about put my foot through the radio this a.m. when an "expert" on the BBC said that a couple lives a day would be tolerable to Americans and this would continue. IT IS INTOLERABLE that these people are dying over oil.

I have written Corzine a thank you note.

BTW, does anyone know if it is possible to zip past Wolfo's hour-o-crap and get straight to the good stuff? I'd like to watch but I don't think I can sit through an hour of Wolfowitz and the Terror Tree.
