Your Predictions for the Outcome of The Plame Investigation
Mine is simple: it goes away for the good of the Homeland.

2. Some 'low end' aides or officials ...
will be sacrificed, 'for the good of the cause'.

Someone has to go down. Once bush said he wanted to get to the bottom of this, a public statement I'm sure he regrets, he opened the door to his investigation.

8. I agree
And then the media will universally laud Bush for his tough, honest, law & order administration.

5. Sadly, I agree
Guess treason doesn't matter if it's the Imperial Family or their henchpersons doing it.

I cannot see the corrupt law enforcement institutions of the Empire trying to enforce the law on the Imperial Family as if it was the Height of the Old Republic.

Plus, there was a reason Reichsmarschall Ashcroft stayed on the job for 6 months, IMHO, and I think it was to insure that a real investigator wouldn;t find anything if they tried to look later.

I'm guessing that Ashcroft's mission was accomplished.

maybe a mid-level retirement to spend more time with the family--no public linkage to the investigation.

12. However, it is still alive
The previous defeatist threads do terrible pain to my psyche. If we would put as much energy into notifying our congressional representatives that we want to see this thing through as we do in telling each other that it is over, then maybe it will arise from its deathbed. I'm sure Ambassador Wilson would be dismayed at our discourse. I suggest we stop it. I suggest we do our little part to pump life into the issue(truth). If we all do a little bit than we will have one big motherfucking bit for karl and george and novak to contend with. OR WE CAN QUIT.

15. Actually, I think something WILL stick
Realize, a clear crime has been committed.

Too many people, Dem and GOP, were outraged by this. This is no blow job, this is no third-rate burglary. This is a crime that has done real damage to our intelligence efforts.

And I think there are too many people who know what happened.

Ashcroft recusing himself is a big sign that they can't keep this one under wraps. A piece from last week anticipated that grand jury testimony may begin soon. It's not going away.

16. I hope your right
And I agree that our saving grace is that too many people know the identity of the leaker. Apparently, it's an "open secret" in DC. They can't make a false fall guy walk the plank. I feel better now. Thanks!

19. I saw the trial balloon floated a couple of weeks ago on CNN
Edited on Mon Jan-05-04 01:04 PM by NewGuy
One of the commentators made the statement "I didn't know it was a secret, I have known she worked there for years and thought everybody did."

Also some remarks to the efect that this type of investigation is frequently requested and seldom goes anywhere.

Edited for a typo
