Repubs: Guys who start fires and run to the rescue.

Isn't there a psychological term for people who start a fire or cause some other crisis then run in to rescue people? This whole argument about the US being better of with Saddam gone reminds me of that. Does anyone know what it's called?

they start fires, then once someone else has rescued victims, gotten the fire under control and started cleaning up the mess, the Repug rushes in to take credit, label their political enemy du jour as the arsonist and immediately start claiming that anyone who doesn't praise the Repug for its "heroism" is a friend of the arsonist.

6. They start multiple fires at once,

forcing an undermanned fire dept to try to figure out which one to put out first. No one ever seems to be convicted, either. :(

7. funny, I know a right-winger who got arrested for doing just that

when I was in college. Total right-wing nut case whose father was heavily involved in Missouri politics. Got a job as a security guard in the library, then was quite the hero when he discovered several fires, called them in, put them out.

Then he got arrested when they finally figured out he was the guy setting the fires.

He was my first experience with extreme right wingers. His whole family was in the KKK and everything. He was a smart guy, but really fucked up.
