Who would it be? This is a useless poll I'm doing just to kil time. Any thoughts?

Hard to believe, I know.

A great elder statesman, but a little long in the tooth for a presidential run.

I'd pick "Junior" from the old Hee-Haw show.

Is he still alive or what?

7. Chicago Celeb
OPRAH - she would bring us back from the brink where we currently find ourselves. She is a true uniter and would make the world respect us again. Seeing the work she has done for AIDS orphans in South Africa made me so pleased to know that there is still goodness in many Americans.

But, I still love what she has done for so many kids in the world.

Edited on Thu Jan-01-04 06:35 PM by The Zanti Regent
Since Hatch and his Nazi Pals want to repeal the natural-born clause for President, and they think they can sneak Arnold in with that, let's run Patrick Stewart, a hard core Labourite.

I'd love to see the first press conference where Captain Picard puts the Media Whores in their place!

Sheen? Maybe.

40. Cher of course.
Okay, so she once supported Ross Perot. I think it was because she really thought he could change the money changers culture in Washington. (You know, they said it today again, that the guy who can buy the most ads wins.) But, anyway, maybe nothing will get done, but the White House and Washington is bound to be a lot more fun and although the fashion may not be in the best of taste, it certainly won't be frumpy and dowdy.

79. Robert Redford would be the first pick...
... because America loves him too much to be upset about him being a fabulous progressive & human being. He also has a firm grasp of the wierdness of the political process... anybody see The Candidate? What a remarkable movie! He says he is making a sequel. We can only hope!

Runners up:
Tim Robbins - brilliant and with a good sense of humor about the absurdities of politics (Bob Roberts/The Cradle Will Rock)

Martin Sheen - great man & brilliant but a far longer shot; he's been on the receiving end of bad press for his political actions for decades

Has anyone ever started a "draft Redford" movement to get him to run for office?

85. Dennis Weaver...
Thats' right...he of "Gunsmoke" and "McCloud" fame.
"The Age of Oil has really exhausted it's usefulness, and it has actually become a danger to our lives and our ability to survive on the planet".

<snip>

In the 1970's, Weaver became concerned about the nation's "addiction to fossil fuels". He and his wife, Gerry Stowell, bought the plans for an "earthship", a house constructed of recycled aluminum cans and rubber tires, which he and his wife built. The Earthship was designed by New Mexico architect Michael Reynolds as an environmentally sustainable house. The house has a "passive solar" design which means that features of the house include large, south-facing windows to admit both light and warmth.
