New Year's morning daydream/nightmare

Today I woke up and immediately remembered that it's 2004--the year we can get rid of the Bush interlopers! Unlike other years, there will be no writing the wrong year on checks for the first few weeks. We've longed for this year for too long.

But then an unsettling thought intruded on this happy reverie. What if our Democratic candidate indeed wins by a commanding margin of both popular and electoral votes, but along about January 15 a new terror attack occurs. Will the Bushies have the chutzpah to attempt holding over past January 20? Who might they get to back them up? Any thoughts?

No one would allow it. Even conservatives would demand that Bu$h step aside and let the President do the job.

2. Don't worry about 2005

It's September/October 2004 where I would worry about a new attack.

This would be the excuse for martial law (per Tommy Franks, the next attack will lead to suspension of what's left of the Constitution) and cancellation of the election. Don't change horses in midstream, stay the course, etc.

But, with black box voting, they've got it in the bag, so the BFEE may not even need to attack us again.
