Watergate era deja vu

Not sure of the significance, but the parallels to where we find ourselves at this moment, and what was going on in 1970-1973 are interesting.

July 1970- Nixon approves plan for greatly expanded domestic intelligence gathering.

June 1971- NYT begins publishing Pentagon Papers- a secret background to the Vietnam war.

*** current parallel- Cheney Energy Task Force?

September 1971- White House "plumbers" burglarize psychiatrists office to find info on Daniel Ellsberg, the Pentagon Papers leaker.

*** current parallel- "senior administration officials" leak classified info re: Valerie Plame in order to dicredit her husband.

June 1972- 5 men burglarize DNC HQ at Watergate Hotel. White House ties eventually emerge.

We have Conasen, Palast, Krugman, and many others on the internet. And there are a couple of reporters at the WaPo working some of these stories, so we shall see.

chimpy were to actually win next year it would suprise me if he didn't meet the same fate as nixon. Even with all the media whoring and protecting of the chimp right now. Get him back in office, reinstitute a military draft, and watch the fur start flying. It would sure sell papers.
