my honest appeal to Patrick J. Buchanan to run for president

Pat: Please run for president! If you do not, I will be forced to vote for a Democrat. In comparing George W. Bush vs. Howard Dean, I find myself agreeing with Howard Dean more often-- and I think if you looked at the issues, you would too. You are the candidate America needs! Your running will not syphon votes away from Bush, because so many conservatives have had it with Bush and will either vote for Dean or stay home. This is your best chance ever to preside over a Christian nation as President, Pat. We need you!

"You are the candidate America needs!"-- absolutely true! Though the reason we need him is to stick it to Bush.

"Your running will not syphon votes away from Bush, because so many conservatives have had it with Bush and will either vote for Dean or stay home."-- Well, this one might be a stretch. His candidacy WOULD syphon votes away from Bush, but also away from Dean (honestly), and more to the point, it would encourage voter turnout among some who would not otherwise vote. This could be bad for Democratic congressmen, but oh well. And yes, it is a bit dishonest to imply that I feel Pat's running would not adversely affect the Bush campaign. Hopefully, God will understand.

"This is your best chance ever to preside over a Christian nation as President, Pat. We need you!"-- If America can be considered a Christian nation, this may very well be true. In fact, I'm sure his chances, however slim, would be the best they've ever been.
