Alfred G. Packer: Republican Cannibal
Ever hear this story?:

"Legend has it that Judge Melville B. Gerry of Lake City , a Democrat, pronounced sentence upon Packer this way: 'You voracious man-eating son of a bitch, there was seven Democrats in Hinsdale County and you ate five of them. God damn you! I sentence you to be hanged by the neck until you are dead, Dead, DEAD, as a warning against reducing the Democratic population of Hinsdale County. Packer, you Republican cannibal, I would sentence you to Hell but the statutes forbid it.'"

4. Yes!
I went to the Univ of Colo. and they used to celebrate Alferd Packer Day (maybe they still do). They had events like Rocky mtn oyster eating contests, and all kinds of other disgusting things.

I just looked at a t-shirt from Alferd Packer Day '85 with that quote on the back. It was pretty funny.

7. From the hazy memory department
...I seem to recall something I heard on Colorado Public Radio last year, forensic scientists did something and came to the conclusion that Packer wasn't the first person on the party to eat other people. Something about a gunshot wound, or something.

I of course have no link, and nothing substantial to say.

8. Comin' back for more
It was a genuine original highly pathological finger lickin' digital cafe
It was Al Packer's legendary culinary fast food cannibal bar and buffet
On a cold dark night you're gonna see a weird light up on cannibal plateau they say
It's a scrub oak fire like a funeral pyre, ol' Packer's been a cookin' all day
When the coyotes howl and the cougar's on the prowl they're not lookin' for your customary prey
Nah they're waitin' for bones in that pile of hot stones at old Al Packer's cafe

:) :) :)

9. Yes, I read that story when I was six years old
The only thing to do at my stepfather's parents house to do was read, so I picked up a western history magazine and was introduced to Alfred Packer godamn his canibalistic soul.
Years later one of my government profs who graduated U of Co, told us of the Alfred Packer Memorial Cafeteria.
