I'm boycotting beef to help beat Bush
Yeah, I am going to do exactly that and I encourage others to do it also. Call it guerilla warfare but if this is made into an issue that Bush needs to address let's see how he handles it when the Beef Industry comes down on his ass. Minimally the repukes will have to deal with it thereby using up some of there resources to cover their ass. Also, there are some swing states out there in the Mid West where there might be a lot of interest in how Shrub deals with a major problem in the beef supply.

Who will flex their economic power with me to get rid of Bush????

2. typically it's the beef industry who have resisted change
more strict guidelines on beef production may mean higher costs to the beef providers. Now though, they have a huge friend in the white house. I guess I'm just not sure if a boycott on beef will do the trick. The beef industry will make the necessary changes if told to or see a huge drop in beef sales but don't expect them to put pressure on Bush to do anything but cover up the problem

3. How about also boycotting all those companies sending jobs
overseas? We should all have a list and not buy anything from those companies (if we can). And write them and tell them.

As for beef, I stopped eating hamburger years ago when mad cow first hit England. Seems there is a company that wants the entire hamburger market. They have been buying small companies right and left. My grocery stores can't get beef for making their own hamburger. The problem with the new hamburger is that everything gets mixed into one big pot. You have no idea how old any of the hamburger is. No one knows where it came from. This has been the reason why there is so much e. coli problems and salmonilla. Everything gets tossed into hamburger meat. You can bet if there is mad cow anywhere, the first place will be hamburger. Looks like I will have to give up beef though. This will not be a boycott. Boycotts mean you will go back once demands are satisfied. We can't go back. I will have to raise my own beef if I want a steak.

Some interesting facts about mad cow: your risk is the same if the steak is rare, well done or literally burnt to a crisp. Heat does not effect it. Neither does radiation.

This could also explain why most people in the country seem to be brain dead.

6. BUY LOCAL!!!!
IF you have a small meat locker in your area or an actual butcher talk to them, they can most likely set you up with a farmer/beef producer who raises organic cows or doesn't feed their animals the steroid/hormone filled ground up cow feed that most mass producers feed to their cows. It may be a little more expensive but typically tastes better and is more healthy. Also, if you have a large freezer or know some people who would be willing to go in on a whole side of beef you can get a pretty good deal that way too.

5. How to have your beef and boycott it, too.
Find yourself a local farmer who raises beef cattle. Buy steer. Have local meatpacker slaughter and butcher said steer. Pack into freezer. If you don't eat that much beef, find friends to share the burden.

In the area where I live, there are many small farmers raising beef cattle. These are not feedlot cattle, these are healthy, grass-fed cattle. Buy one and you support a small farmer, you boycott agribusiness, and you get to eat safe beef from happy cattle.

8. I agree, TBW.
I quit eating beef a few years ago when we had the mad cow disease scare in England. The idea of my brain turning into a sponge was just too risky. Even if the beef wasn't tainted, there are many other reasons to give it up. 1) It's a fairly big part of the grocery bill. You'll save a lot of money. 2) There are a lot of hormones in beef - not good for you. 3) A beef-heavy diet is known to be carcinogenic. 4) Lots of unhealthy fat. 5) I have to sit side by side with my boss for long hours at the office. He's a heavy meat-eater, and he positively reeks. I think it comes from his pores.

You can get used to living without it! Morningstar Farms makes really good beef substitutes, and Boca Burgers are awesome. Try it! And be healthy.

9. Soyburgers and other vegetable burgers are probably in your supermarket
Soyburgers and other vegetable burgers are probably in your supermarket in the frozen food section.

Give them a try.

If you tried them before and didn't like them, try another brand.

They don't taste exactly like hamburgers, but they have a good taste of their own.

10. Also boycott Home Depot; they have a PAC for him and company
workers are "allowed to contribute to it." Don't support businesses that super support that Greed Pig Bu$h, like Home Depot and Wallmart. You have alternatives to these two.

12. I'm with you all the way
seeing as how I've been urging friends and family to boycott beef for many years as it is! This is just more reinforcement.
