I can't even understand Sharon asking Bush to do this. Would a real ally put you in this position?

1. Well, I can sure see who wears the pants between Israel and the USA!
Let's see, Sharon will present a petition with 112 signers. A whopping 112. That's overwhelming.

But that's not really the ploy, Sharon is BRIBING us with the entire peace process if Pollard isn't released.

"that at a time when the United States is
asking Israel to release
terrorists who pose a security
threat to Israel, the U.S.
should consider a good-will
gesture to Israel by releasing Pollard, who has been behind bars for the past 17 years."

snip

*****and for the BIG BRIBE:

"The Knesset was presented Sunday with a private
member's bill submitted by MK Gilad Erdan
(Likud) linking the approval of any diplomatic
agreement with the Palestinian Authority to the
release of Pollard."

****** now, I don't know who the hell Pollard is. And I don't know what a Knesset is. I am ignorant to this issue, obviously, BUT if a guy has been in prison for 17 years......and what looks to be an extortionistic move by Sharon to get him released.......all I can say is that it stinks, stinks, stinks!

And guess what? 2-1 Bush gives the pardon.

2. Now THAT would be treasonous.
Pollard committed the ultimate treason against our country. If Bush pardons him, it will only be because Israel extorts that concession in exchange for stopping settlements and eliminating checkpoints. Allowing our country to be blackmailed would be treasonous in my opinion.
