In May, a single case of a cow with (BSE) was discovered in Alberta. The news virtually shut down the Canadian cattle industry. It was estimated that in Canada the shutdown cost about $3.3 billion.

Every country in the world closed their doors to Canadian beef imports - in many cases the ban remain in place.

But ha ha....the US shut the door on Canada so fast my toque got locked outside. Glad we shut them down too.
