3. Come on- Mad cow disease...
I've been giving this site an honest chance, but the conspiracy theories are just way too out there for the normal man.

I knew this morning when I heard about Mad Cow disease in the US that there'd be a half dozen posts trying to link Bush to it.

4. I have it on good authority that Karl Rove himself drove that cow mad.

8. No one is saying that.
But if you look at the front page of the NYT, you will see that there IS a possibility that the Dept. of Agriculture was simply not testing for mad cow. It could be LIHOP for mad cow.

7. I believe that the announcement about mad cow was timed.
No one is saying that they planted mad cow disease--just that they timed the announcements. It should be obvious to anyone who follows the news that the BFEE times many things and actually implements others for propaganda purposes.

AND When they tell us that there is a heightened possibility of terror at the same time they tell us we are safer--SOMETHING DOES NOT COMPUTE.

10. Do you think deregulation could have anything to do with it?
Just asking....I haven't followed the USDA funding/oversight. But if this administration's MO is operative in this department, I would not be surprised in the least.

Beef Industry are big backers of the Republican Party...I'm sure that they've gotten "relief" from USDA "over-regulation"...

11. Here Is An Idea.
If you think a thread or post is :tinfoilhat: territory, don't read it. People will think what they want to based on their interpretation of the facts at hand and personal experience. I have not come to a conclusion about the BFE story yet, but in my personal experience here at DU many theories that were initially regarded as :tinfoilhat: stuff have been proved correct.

12. Nobody is trying to link * to mad cow disease, lol!
It's the TIMING of the announcement that is suspect. Apparently many government numbers including the durable goods have been much worse than expected. Well, they were released the SAME day that this mad cow issue supposedly affected the markets. Obviously the public's attention will be on MAD COW rather than bad economic news, and people might ascribe a down market to MAD COW instead of the truth about the * economy. Do you understand our suspicions now?

15. So, just why are you obsessing about DU
(i.e.: "I knew this morning when I heard about Mad Cow disease in the US that there'd be a half dozen posts trying to link Bush to it.") if you're so antagonistic toward this site? Are you a * fan by any chance?

5. sorry...
.... Bush* does not control every event in the country contrary to popular belief.

This mad cow problem is almost certain to decimate the beef industry, an important industry in Bush*'s home state of Texas. It may well have an overall dampening effect on the economy.

One might have a case when claiming stuff like M. Jackson or other celebrity crap that effects almost no one, but I'm not buying it when the 'cure' is as bad as the 'disease'.

9. We are talking about the TIMING of the announcement and
the timing of the terror alerts, etc. And, yes, if you pay attention, you will see that the Bush administration does indeed control most of the flow of the news for their own benefit.

I watched the Yahoo rating for the story about the Kurds catching Saddam stay at a 3.63 as hundreds of ratings were added. The 3.63 kept it off the Top Stories list. That is just one example out of millions.

6. all of asia is banning
shipments of beef. unless you know the farmer and what he feeds his beef ,there is a risk. but remember the companies who use ground up beef parts for feed know the risk..it`s all about the money. acceptable risks. but look at this way-there be cheaper beef prices

16. Bush likes to think of himself as the hero saving us.
I think the terrorist just go to their PC when things get dull and start talking to each other then sit back and laugh at us. We are becoming a country of wimps just like Bush and father.
