Hey, if the world is safer now that Saddam has been taken out,
then why did the alert go a higher color?

The argument is that the world is a much safer place now that Saddam has been caught. Well, in today's double-speak, I guess that we're safer because we're in more danger.

2. when the bush cabal talks about safer, it doesn't mean the US people
it means the BFEE's grip on the world, which is only secure as long as the 'terror' threat remains high.

Yeah, the new double speak. Joy. It makes me :puke:

3. I'd love to ask that question to Lieberman...
Especially in conjunction to Rummy's leaked memo about us creating more terrorists than we kill.

5. As a Lieberman supporter
I would say that it doesn't take a lot figure out that if you capture what the world has designated as a threat, then you are at least somewhat safer. Does it mean you are safer from every enemy? No, of course not. Why should capturing Saddam change al Qaeda's plans for attack?

8. By the world, do you mean George W Bush?
How exactly did 'the world' designate Saddam a threat? He was a threat in 1980 when he invaded Iran. He was a threat in 1991 when he invaded Kuwait. But he was hardly a threat in 2003. He had been condemned to 12 years of UN sanctions. His military was obsolete and had no spare parts. He had no air force. He had no chemical or biological weapons. He was nowhere near to getting nukes.

He was an evil dictator. The world is better off without him. If the US is going to be in the business of rubbing out every tin-pot dictator who pollutes the world, fine and dandy. Let's make it our announced policy, get together the world community and decide who to go after next. Mugabe? Kim? Assad? Khomeni? Musharef? Maybe another crack at Vietnam? Hell, let's just draft every able-bodied man, woman, and child between 10-65 and clean up the whole god-damned world.

Al Quaeda is a threat. Saddam wasn't.

9. UNSC
I am going by the numerous SC resolutions that designated him as such. I'm going by Big Dog's statement's that deliniated him a such.

Dr. Dean has stated he would have gone after Saddam with UN approval, does that mean he would have gone after someone that wasn't a threat?

Does anybody really not understand that Saddam was a threat to the world?

11. Grover is a threat to the world. Grover's opposition to Bush makes Grover
a threat to the world. 'Threat to the world' weapons of mass destruction' Threat to the world'...weapons of mass destruction'...The Repub mantra takes down another one.

Dean '04...

13. IMHO we are less safe now that we have pissed off such a large segment
of the world. Bush* has made the US far less safe than President Clinton left it. If you think by capturing Saddam they will no longer hate us you are a bit deluded IMHO.

10. Here's another example.
Let's say Saddam was able to evade capture indefinitely. Reports suggest he has access to anywhere from $100 million - $1 billion dollars. With his noted ties to terrorism in several countries, ( I'm not going to include al Qaeda in that) that he presents a viable financial source for terrorist activites abroad at the least? Of course Saddam would NEVER be interested in revenge.

12. Tee hee.
Guess Bush should have done what he did with Libya then.

Heck, the slop from the $166 billion U.S. taxpayer dollars Bush is spending in the region will probably contribute more to Al Qaeda coffers than Saddam's alleged $1B.

It's all a big accounting game with Bush apologists. Emphasize the assets and receipts, and put the liabilities and expenses in a footnote.

16. The very fact that they had to RAISE the terror alert level
smacks of their overt incompetence. Yet, the whores on Faux continue to deny what we've been telling them for the last week 1/2: SADDAM IS NOT THE THREAT, AL QUEDA IS!!!
