Will there be a Christmas cease-fire in Iraq?
I flew an un-armed electronics recce mission in Vietnam on 12/25/1970, during the Christmas cease-fire. I took heavy battle damage from a VC 12.5mm (50-cal) anti-aircraft site as I approached the Nha Trang airport for landing. The AA was in the mountains to the west-southwest of Nha Trang. Cease-fire schmease-fire.

1. No. I don't think so. However, I'm sure the reporting of casualties
will be delayed until after Christmas.

After all, didn't we ramp up some Operation Blow'em Up Thingy in the middle of Ramadan?

2. Yeah. We thought they would use Ramadan against us.
Ended up, just the same 2-4 KIA per day. Yawn. They aren't really happening either, or we would see the coffins coming off the C-141s at Dover. Right?

they won't stop for Christmas.

The GOP news media will take a cease-fire from the truth though.

All-in-all, just a day like any other.

And thank you for your service, DemoTex!

5. On further study: DemoTex's long-shot prediction.
Tomorrow, for "Christian-motivated" political reasons, the Bu$h regime will declare a 24-hour cease fire in Iraq. Early AM Baghdad time on 12/25, a mini-Tet will go down. Barracks or a hotel. Just a bad gut feeling. Hope I am wrong. Peace.

9. I hope you're wrong, and I hope I am too. I'm thinking something
way more awful. Or aweful. I hate to admit it, but I actually believe the Bushista's warnings. Cause I'm nearly convinced they've orchestrated an 'event.'

Color me paranoid cynic. Orange will do for starters. :eyes:

I'm shakin' in my boots with you, man. Yeah, I am a puke color of paranoic cynical orange too. The Merlot wine I am swilling to escape the Regime's prophecy is taking on scary orange tint.

6. I was thinking about this...
...the other night as I watched a documentry on the Christmas Truce between British and German soldiers on the battle front during WWI, and I all I kept thinking was no.

Bush* is a blood thirsty tyrant, and shit would hit the fan if the soldiers did something like this.

8. But! But! It would be advantageous, politically, for Bu$h!
Call a cease fire. Look good. But send the F-16s out with 500-pounders on the hard points just like we did in Vietnam. Or, in other words, just like we do every day. Maybe it is that Bu$h's Christian base cannot stand a one day capitulation. Eh?
