Dean seemed to shine at Urban League Conference today
Howard Dean and the rest (minus Kerry and Graham) were at the National Urban League conference that I attended in Pittsburgh today. * was there also but he came alone earlier in the day to give a speech. The format was that each Dem had 5 minutes to say what they wanted plus two questions from the moderator. A passionite Kucinich got some good reactions but Dean got the only standing ovation. This occurred when he said to the predominantly black audience: "Most white politicians will talk race to a black audience but we need politicians who will talk about race to a white audience". They liked a lot of what he said. Also, Dean was the only candidate with a substantial following - complete with signs. I did see a couple of Kucinich signs.

Sharpton got a little rise from the audience with Bush bashing but, frankly, his speaking skills aren't that great. Joe Lieberman has some good points but when you see him in person you don't get the feeling he has a chance. Edwards was OK but nothing dynamic.

Earlier in the day upon *'s arrival there was a good size anti-shrub crowd with no * supporters to be seen or heard. I have some pics I will post later.

2. Sharpton's speaking skills aren't that great?
My, he must have had an off day. Sharpton is a very dynamic and entertaining speaker.

Glad to hear that Dean did well.
