Memento Mori
I was stunned to hear a few minutes ago that Johnny Cunningham, the far-famed Scots fiddler, had died at home Monday night of a massive heart attack.

It was totally unexpected--he was only 46, and in fine health.

Carpe diem. Take some political risks -- they might be your last chance to leave the world a better place. Carpe diem.

Dear me, I'm in tears.

When a strong, healthy guy who gives pleasure to millions can suddenly fall dead of a heart attack while some bugger like Cheney who harms tens of millions seems able to go on forever despite a very dodgy heart (or at least a piece of muscle in his chest, heart might not be the right term)...it makes one wonder.
