Libya proves that the reasons given for war with Iraq are bogus
The Bush Administration has said they went to war with Iraq to liberate the Iraqi people. No longer will we have relationships of conveiance with dictators. We will transform the middle east into a democracy etc etc... Well isn't Gadahfi a bad guy? Hasn't he been known to kill political opponents? The fact that they are going to normalize relations with him (even though he claims to have changed) proves that the reasons given for going to war in Iraq are bogus because they are not being consistently applied to Libya. The Republicans have their own agenda which means anything in their best interest. To the extent they can say: see Libya is getting rid of their wmd's (even though they don't have any) is beneficial to them.

1. Not only that Libya back in the eighties was a hotbed
of terrorist cells operating openly with Khaddafi's blessings. Al Queda may have had it's birth there or at least some of the founders got their training there, not to mention Hamas and various Palestinian terrorist cells.

2. I just sent this letter to CNN.
"With today's announcement by its leader, Libya has begun the process of rejoining the community of nations. Colonel Gadhafi knows the way forward Once again,” Bush said. CNN.com

CNN proves it's new name: RNCNN. Where on God's Earth are the facts on this clever little Bush Blair and Rove move? CNN and the rest of the Neo-Conned media have fallen right in line and have smeared the airwaves with putrid footage of an un-elected President acting as if Moammar Gadhafi was their best friend in the fight against terror. Despicable.
Do we forget, that Moammar Gadhafi has slaughtered his own people, he has blown up hundreds of Americans, and has done every evil act on the same scale as Saddam. Now Bush turns and spins his way in to saying inspections are ok, the way to go, atta boy Moammar. What ever happened to the inspectors in Iraq, remember them? Before Bush drew first blood, killing 460 US service men and untold Thousands of innocent Iraqis. Those inspectors, who we now know today, found no WMD’s because there was none to be found. Now we have master WMD search guru David Kay about to resign because he found none.
I read your pitiful story, propping up the dictator in the Whitehouse, playing in to his con game, their game of mass deception and CNN et al have now stooped to the lowest of the low in sucking up the propaganda machine. What next? Will you have slutty blonds screaming that Liberals hate their country again? Will you launch your own McCarthy like campaign shouting that progressives support terrorist, that we wish Saddam had not been caught? The time of resistance against the Neo Con media has now arrived. We will prove that your news is subversive and dictated by your shareholders, owners and businesses that push and pay what they want you to report and how to report it, and certainly not what really occurs and definitely not what really matters.

I agree with your points, but when writing a news organization, you might want to turn it down a notch so that it's easier for the person reading the letter to relate.

3. You are right. . .
not to mention the atrocities of Idi Amin and numerous other murdering dictators.

The thing that I always go back to is this: if we wanted to create an exemplary democracy that would serve as a model to the Middle East, why the fuck didn't we do that in Afghanistan? I mean, we were there, we had the world with us, we won, we conquered the Taliban, we could have really done something. Instead, we barely remember to include it in any foreign aid. So, what was the difference between Afghanistan and Iraq, hmmmm? Could it have been OIL?

6. * said we went to war w/ Iraq because of WMD, then did the
"bait and switch" to liberation.

Why are these thugs negotiating w/ a terrorist? Why do they believe Mommar K and not SH?

MK, bad guy? Rmemeber Pan Am Flight 103 that exploded in Lockebee (sp?) Scotland? Excuse me, but wasn't MK behind this?

Does Libya have oil, bec that would explain it.

Where is the outrage?
