When has * been honest on a major issue while “President”?
Really, there must be an example out there somewhere, right? It seems that if we are going to believe him on anything that we have to have an example of a time that he was honest, before he was caught in a lie. The example should also be in a situation where the issue had substance. For example, someone can find a quote where he says, “My first name is George” that will not qualify.

I know that there may not be any examples and this post may sink like a rock, but I thought that if we all put our minds to it maybe we could come up with something. What the heck.

3. What do you think is going on in Afghanistan today?
Do you think he was honest in his committment to that country? If so, how do you explain the current situation?

17. You mean when he bombed wedding parties
Because they were stupid enough to rely on rival warlords for their intelligence?

2. Sorry....
I cannot think of one instance where he has been honest.....I thought his promise to send money to Africa to fight the battle against the spread of AIDS was trithful. But as it turns out that was one big lie and that promisr has been drastically underfunded because of the big tax cuts to the most wealthy in our country.

So I am sorry I cannot help you out my friend!

"...so long as I was dictator."

"There ought of be limits to freedom."

"Who cares what you think?"

6. All good examples of truth,
who knew it would be this easy?

I'm not sure the issue is substantive, but when the transition to dictatorship is finished I will have been proved wrong.

21. And, then, there's the ever-popular:
"I am the commander, see? I do not need to explain why I say things. — That's the interesting thing about being the President. — Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."

Of course, this is in the context of dealings with staff, but one gets the feeling from the tone that he means this with respect to just about everyone.

And, I think he's most sincere about this....

5. Honest? Dub? I thought he told Dianne Sawyer...
That honesty doesn't matter!:eyes:

Seriously, I don't think he's told us the truth on ANY issue...including just how much his pet legislation was going to screw us. Suuuure hasn't thought much of being honest with us on that score!:eyes:

B-)

8. Didn't you know that this thread would sink like a rock?
What gets me is not so much his dishonesty, but the results of his dishonesty: so many thousands of children left behind (he even took in Teddy Kennedy on that one)...so many people dying unnecessarily of AIDS...and doncha know that waitress got a huge tax refund...

So little time, so much grief and suffering he has caused!!

19. Just so I'm Clear..
Are you blaming AIDS related deaths in Africa on Bush? That's a bit of a strech. Him not solving the problem others created does not make him the source of suffering. Please support your argument.

20. She is commenting on the money * promised
Edited on Fri Dec-19-03 01:42 PM by spotbird
to combat AIDS in Africa which never materialized. Most knew it was a lie when he made the promise so it’s not like there was disappointment, but it is another perfect example of how Chimp lies.

Suffering Africans aren’t a priority for *, saying suffering Africans are a priority is important to *.

10. I disagree
And this is completely subjective, but I've always thought his anti-abortion stance was strictly to please the religious right. I firmly believe he is a sociopath, and I'm not exaggerating. As such, he doesn't care in the least about anyone else, born or unborn.

16. Abortion
The Republicans own the presidency, senate, congress and Supreme Court. They could get rid of abortion in a flash but too many moderate Republicans want freedom of choice. He is side stepping the issue.

18. Isn't there pretty good evidence that he supported a woman
he had a relationship with when she had an abortion?

If he is sincere why hasn't he proposed legislation to congress to limit abortion rights in a real way? If he thinks they really are murdered babies why doesn't he work toward the passage of an Amendment?

Truthful, this one is possible but not supported by actions. I'll give it a maybe.

14. Never--never while in business, never as governor, never as "president"
Edited on Fri Dec-19-03 01:13 PM by librechik
Never as a Christian, never as a recovering alcoholic, never, no doubt as a husband and father. He is a scared little insecure rich boy promoted WAAAAY beyond his level of competence, who spends all his time trying to advantage himself and cover his ass.

My opinion of his character has gone down since the coronation. At first I felt he was just a weak character roped into a bad situation who still deluded himself that he was working for "good."

But after getting to know him better through his public appearances and second-hand statements (Ari and Scotty say "The president thinks..." all the time) I see him more and more as a sociopathic persona bent and corrupted by the power he has been given who acts less and less out of a sense of obligation to the voters and more and more out of lust for power. And I don't think he has a firm grip on reality let alone "the Truth" That commodity is spoonfed to him through his sycophants, by his own admission.

No American President should allow himself to be in that position. Shrub is a prince, not a president, and that is by definition unAmerican. His slavish followers are neomonarchists, not neoconservatives.
