3. Couldn't believe Anderson Cooper let him say what he did...
To paraphase... he had his picture taken earlier in the day with a Department Store Santa. He told Cooper that when "Santa" asked him what he wanted for Christmas, REM replied he wanted to get George Bush and his "gang of thugs" out of the White House. He said "Santa" told him he did too!

Amazing.... I might just buy this guys records!

4. It was disgusting that Anderson cut Michael off as soon as he said

that he was very concerned about how the media is not reporting on what's wrong with the government. Anderson immediately asked him a completely unrelated question.

But Michael got his digs in! Just as he did on "Today" in the summer when REM played one of those "Today" sponsored street concerts. They played "Bad Day" and Michael got off some comments about every day being a bad day with Bush in the White House, etc. Katie Couric kept smiling and didn't interrupt, hard to say if she was in agreement or flustered.

Good show, Stipe!

Excellent! Michael got two solid zingers in - when AC asked him about the media, Michael said that media's job is to watchdog the government and that it's failed in doing so in the last few years, "especially with this administration!"

Also, he told Santa what he wanted for Christmas - "I want George W Bush and his gang of thugs the hell out of the White House!" And, according to Michael, Santa does too!!!

Kick it for Michael and the Fat Dude! That truly made me smile!

8. Michael Stipe is the best.
I have always liked REM and loved them even more as I found out more and more about his politics. Growing up in Georgia, one of the stations out of Atlanta used to play "Radio Free Europe" and I thought to myself their was something different and special about this new band. They really earned their success and having great politics on top of it all just makes them that much better.

10. Thank you Mr. Stipe!
as an aside I've noticed, quite by accident while flipping through channels (and through r.e.m. newsletters), that 'Bad Day' has been included in a few network TV programs as of late: 'Smallville', 'Scrubs', and 'Joan of Arcadia' played healthy chunks of that song, much to my delight!

r.e.m. is also featured on tonights' 'Boston Public' on Fox!

12. and now it's Neil Rogers' turn!
Other than Randi, I don't think many can rip Bushitler a new cornhole like Uncle Neil! It literally hurts to laugh any more!

Lu Cifer, is it Friday yet?!!?!? Oh crap...nevermind...

13. Yes! Also Mike Mills was a part of the Tell Us The Truth Tour!
I went to the concert last month and Mills was playing with Billy Bragg, Tom Morello and Lester Chambers.

Bragg and Morello are both FAR Left and Mills had some choice comments about Bush.

So Stipes is on the same page, it doesn't shock me;-)

REM is on my x-mas list now!

15. Listening to REM
got me through some pretty tough times in high school and college. It helped me to realize someone else was "Losing My Religion" as well. The music was a welcome respite at times and well companionship at others. It is great to see that he is both doing well and doing good.

16. They did Losing My Religion
I just love that song. Boston Public could be a better show but REM was terrific.
