How Albright was set-up RE: Bin Ladden comments!!!
I wonder how many things are said in the green room that actually stay in the green room? Kondracke, FAUX and Newsmanx should all be ashamed of themselves! The damage is done!

Albright: Bin Laden Comments Were 'Tongue-in-Cheek'

Wednesday, December 17, 2003

WASHINGTON — Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright (search) insisted Wednesday that she was just kidding when she wondered aloud whether the Bush administration is holding Usama bin Laden (search) captive, waiting to break him out at the best political moment.

It was a "tongue-in-cheek comment and was not intended in any other way," Albright told Fox News.

But witnesses to Albright's comment said the ambassador did not appear to be joking Tuesday when she suggested President Bush may reveal bin Laden's capture as an "October surprise" (search) before next November's presidential election.

Albright was in the Fox News studio's green room waiting to appear on an evening program when she made the remark.

"She said, 'Do you suppose that the Bush administration has Usama bin Laden hidden away somewhere and will bring him out before the election?'" said Fox News analyst and Roll Call executive editor Mort Kondracke. "She was not smiling."

Two makeup artists who prep the guests before their appearances also reported that Albright did not ask her question in a joking manner.

5. I like how the witnesses were make up artists. . .
. . .not to demean make up artists at all but do really think they are going to go against Kondracke?

though not in the enemies' camp. Take care, Ms. Albright.

6. Clark and Rove
This is similar to the Clark remarks reported by two absolutely disinterested and uninvolved objective individuals. Clark did not seem to these men to be joking when he told them that if Rove had answered his phonecalls Clark would be a Republican.

The two two absolutely disinterested and uninvolved objective people he said this to felt certain that he was not making an off-the-cuff criticism of Carl Rove but were morally certain that Clark was saying he was opposing Bush out of personal pique.

Similarly, a question by Madelaine Albright (to wit 'Do you suppose that the Bush administration has Usama bin Laden hidden away somewhere and will bring him out before the election?'") is reported by an absolutely disinterested and uninvolved objective individual, FAUX (the WWE of Journalism) News commentator, Mort Kondrake, as her serious commentary on the news. One can only wonder what his answer was.

Lies, lies and more lies, all in the interests of boosting ratings among the blockheads who look to FAUX (the WWE of Journalism) News for the reality of what is going on in the world. Not that is all Mort's fault. Blaming that network for the gullibility of their viewers is like blaming Ronald McDonald when you get a bad hamburger.

FOX's crime is in encouraging and supporting that gullibility.

9. Albright said it because she thinks it’s true.

She wanted the Faux types to know she knows and did not intend to go on the record.

An interesting aside is that the issue of whether Saddam was actually “found” when he was was part of the Republican talking points Monday morning. In other words, the indictment of Democrats who have any doubt about the administration’s story was circulated before there was any doubt expressed. The fact that Saddam was “planted in the ground”(so to speak) may actually be a very poorly kept secret. But it would take a media to investigate. Well-- they did ask Rummy, which to them constitutes investigation.

It was more "foot-in-mouth" than anything else.

11. Count on Fox to miss the message
Instead of being journalists and saying, hmm, what's that Maddie? and exploring it, they leak the story out as a "horrid" Albright accusation. They sure have a funny way of looking a the news - never critique the pRes, also attack his critics. Nice spin, Faux.

13. When you play at the level of the game that Albright plays at, she
should know to ALWAYS watch what she says. You are never truly off the record or at ease.

14. When you enter the belly of the beast
you must be on guard constantly. Albright had no friends there and likely she was naive in thinking she might or that these people had no bad intentions for her.

She just tainted any Oct surprise using Osama bin Forgotten, and she did it with deniability--THAT is pretty damn spectacular IMO. They trot him out at any point from now on, and everybody is gonna look at it and ask how it benefits shrub.

I've seen it on here any number of times where it gets discussed that they were gonna "capture" him in Oct of next year. (More like fly him in from Club Med where they've been putting him up, IMO) We've been speculating on it for a while now--and not many of us have run at the same levels she has. You KNOW that the idea is out there...

She walked into what is widely viewed on here as one of the MOST partisian networks, and she fed them some backdoor spin... It was just juicy enough to get FAUX's attention, but not so blatent that she couldn't back away from it. To me this is a smart move on either her part--or somebody's part.

I have a lot of respect for her, and THAT little thing in the Green room may be a comment we are all thankful for in the long run. I'd not be so quick to criticize her or write it off as stupidity or inattention.

Laura
