and he may have had a hard time convincing Congress to let him go to Afghanistan to get rid of the Taliban. However, 9-11 wouldn't have happened so we would probably still be investigating Whitewater, Paul Jones, and the WH travel office instead.

Osama was a priority for Clinton, and I don't even want to think about how much more work Clinton would have gotten accomplished had it not been for the RW who hounded his every step. The ordinary American goes nuts when they get audited, as they attempt to organize their documentation and present their case. Imagine how Clinton felt, trying to get the most important job in the world accomplished with all those badgers hanging on his heels. I really wish the RW would take a good hard look at itself and recognize its complicity in what eventually happened. But it's asking too much for them to accept any responsibility for anything. It's always "someone else's fault."

I believe Al Franken pointed out in his book that Clinton had Special Forces on the ground in Afghanistan hunting for bin Laden, as well as a missile frigate off the coast with cruise missiles ready to launch... meanwhile, when the Bush Regime took office, they thought Clinton was too obsessed with OBL and terrorism and wanted to focus on Star Wars instead, ignoring the warnings of the Hart-Rudman report... so, the special ops guys were called back, the missile ships sent back and the Bush Regime awarded the Taliban tens of millions for fighting drugs.

Talk about mixed messages.

Maybe somebody should write a book called "Losing bin Laden" about Bush's failures to capture him?

Instead of Bush continuously making new enemies. Osama can hide because he has the favor of the people in Pakistan/Afganistan. Bush only solidified that support; Clinton would have undermined it.
