To convince the sheep that we on the left are as evil as they claim, and to convince the RW wackos that whatever they wish to do to us is justified, they now only have to mine the rich veins of threads here at DU and other liberal forums - as they have been doing lately.

No matter how absurd the post, and how reasonably they are discussed and discredited by others, the worst of them (probably planted by freepers) will find their way to the lips of Limbaugh and the other RW megaphones - proving once and for all that we are the despicable America-haters and terrorist-lovers that the Ann Coulters proclaim us to be. I'm sure their audiences are duly repelled at our lowly, animal nature, lacking even the slightest hint of patriotism or love for our nation.

So much easier, when the next terrorist attack comes and martial law is declared - to round us up and place us behind the razor wire.

Is there a solution? Not unless average Americans demand some real changes in how we are governing ourselves and how our political system currently works. That doesn't seem likely in the present hateful climate.

We may soon be asked to make the decision that so many others have had to make throughout history - prison and/or death. Not here you say? That's exactly what all the rest said too - just before the truckload of soldiers pulled up to their door.

PS - I, in no way, believe we should modify our discussions because of this. Free and open discussion is what freedom is all about. I just think we should be ready for whatever happens.

The normal thinking republicans KNOWS that you can't go to a friggin online msg board and think that's how a group of ppl are.. trust me my parents are mega super christian republicans but they aren't sheep.

I see the "evil unAmerican liberal" meme getting tremendous support and amplification through the millions of viewers, listeners and readers exposed to it every day. Every day it grows and become a larger part of the reality that exists in the minds of Americans.

Memes are far more powerful than reason. Look at all the cruelty that humans have dealt to each other consistently throughout history. Not old history either. In the last 5 months, about 50,000 Iraqi civilians have ben killed by decisions our governement has made - needlessly, unless BFEE hegemony is seen as justification.

I still think this is the dying cry of the Far Right as the world is going liberal. Our beliefs are going world wide and the Right are slamming down the fist and getting really off the wall because of it.
