"He does what he is told to do and says what he is told to say..."
"He's a puppet.." So said a caller to C-SPAN this morning. Is this true? I was trying to imagine any event or photo op or anything that was not staged by someone else or the words were not written by someone else and I could not think of even one. What does this tell you? Certainly not that he is an independent thinker and most defintely not that he is a great president or Commander in Chief.

To be fair, he has gotten fairly adequate at reading off the teleprompter the words that somone else writes. Has he ever written anything himself? He bragged that he never reads any newspapers. Obviously, he doesn't write anything either. This would disturb me even more if I had voted for this fellow.

Is he a "puppet"? In the most strict definition, the answer would have to be yes. He does what he is told to do. He is told to go to Baghdad and he is told to take his picture with a turkey. He is told what to say about the war. He is told what to say about the economy. And he is told to say it in a few short words, and not stray from his script. Because he has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth when he tries to put forth an original thought. So, who do you think is pulling the strings...besides Dick Cheney?

5. Explain yourself....
I don't see Dean reading from the teleprompter that much? I don't see him as a puppet? Did you vote for Bush and now are embarrassed by your vote? :)

3. I used to write political speeches
Generally, the writer has to have a good understanding of the personality and the "core beliefs" of the person he is writing the speech for. You have to know them well enough to accomodate voice inflections and phrasing.

To that extent, Bu$h's writers are doing a much better job than they used to. His policy advisors are shaping policy recommendations around his beliefs, but, and this is the scary part: they are also shaping his beliefs in their briefings.

In any case, there is some respect ofr his authority to make decisions, but there is also great opportunity to control those decisions by framing the issues around what they want him to believe. Does this make him a puppet? Probably.

9. In this case
the core is rotten and is amenable to what it is told. I believe this is the reason he was selected. The PNAC knew he could be manipulated and that has been proven. They cater to his base instincts of being "somebody." He is no Hitler; he is not that smart, but he plays his role well enough to sway too many people. And those are the people who still think Hussein helped Al Queda. In the long run, I feel we are hurt more by those than we are any enemy we might have. An ignorant populace can be a very dangerous threat. Just my opinion.

6. He's the PNAC puppet.
The PNAC agenda was first drafted during Bush Sr's administration, but he rejected it. Not a big fan of Poppy, but I give him credit for that much. Then they rewrote the thing and tried to sell it to President Clinton in 1998. He didn't buy it either. That's when they realized they needed an empty vessel. Someone who they could control completely. Someone so incredibly stupid he would actually beilieve that their blueprint for a global fascist state was a good thing, and that God himself approved of the plan.

Enter George Bush Jr. Name recognition. Poppy's connections. Empty head. The perfect PNAC stooge.

10. "Has he ever written anything himself?" He wrote this.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Oh my, lump in the bed
How I've missed you.
Roses are redder
Bluer am I
Seeing you kissed by that charming French guy.
The dogs and the cat, they missed you too
Barney's still mad you dropped him, he ate your shoe
The distance, my dear, has been such a barrier
Next time you want an adventure, just land on a carrier.

11. Yes, Puppet, 90%, but a VINDICTIVE One
He is also BFEE, and these oil cartel families act exactly like the drug cartels, carrying out their turf wars and vendettas. There was no doubt that Shrub was stung by even WORDS criticizing Poppy or he wouldn't have drunkenly insulted a journalist in front of wife and children in a restaurant, and "getting Saddam" is another form of the same thing in avenging Poppy's wimpiness. Besides that, SILENCE from fellow gangsters is priceless.

14. Yes, he is a puppet and the ultimate Manchurian Candidate... he also wears
an earpiece where he is fed answers most likely from rove. It's glaringly obvious in press conferences where the cadance on his speech patterns is rhythmic in a stop listen repeat mode.

Try it sometime; when he's 'speaking freely' try to say along with him what he's saying, you'll find the same need to stop and listen so as to repeat what's being whispered in his ear.

Fascinating.

He did the reading thing. Then with the very first question, this HUMONGOUS pause, with his blank stare. It was a long answer in the earpiece.

19. Look back on his experience in the private sector. He was the
front, the glad hand, the big name that helped his bosses get a foot in the door. He's a useful idiot.
