The Saddam Capture will Help Edwards the most
It could have helped Kerry, but I think he has finessed the issue way too much.

The anti-Dean movement will eventually coalesce around one candidate. My only question is will it be Clark or Edwards and will it actually work?

1. Speaking from the Edwards camp
We'll be happy to bear the standard and I absolutely believe that not only will it work on THIS day, I believed it yesterday as well. THis only helps and helps a lot.

I'd have to judge moreso for our guy than Clark as it was supposed to be his deal to go in and clean up Bush's military house of cards. The house seems to be doing OK now.

2. Why? He voted against the $87 billion appropriation?
So he voted against money that would have been spend on, among other things, tracking down Saddam Hussein.

The only Dems who come out of this with a shred of respectability are Joe Lieberman and Dick Gephardt.

4. The 87 billion didn't cause Saddam to be captured.
The military had enough money for the next few months with no new appropriation at all.

There was no justification for an $87 billion appropriation without rigrous oversight and anti-profiteering provisions.

3. John Edwards could win as the nominee
Edwards addresses our economic concerns. He talks about Bush rewarding wealth instead of work.

It's a message we need.

Too bad "60 Minutes" pre-empted him to further saturate the capture-of-Saddam coverage.

5. Nothing seems to help Edwards
He's had a lot of bad luck and he's polling in single digits in all the national polls and a majority of the meaningful primary races. I hate to say it, but he's barely above the level of Braun/Kucinich/Sharpton and he's treading water right now. Everyone has been waiting for him to make his big move and it hasn't happened and I think it never will. He'll be out by the end of Jan.

I really don't see how this helps Edwards at all, Clark and Kerry will usurp the "Capture" news for their own campaigns and Edwards will be left behind, again. If at all, this news now eliminates Edwards and the other lower candidates. Now Kerry/Clark/Dean have all the attention and it looks to be down to them.
