The open question is this: Is this resistance all just an expression of the Saddam Personality Cult or is it an expression of deep antipathy toward the American occupation.
If it's the former, then it may collapse with the capture of Saddam. If it's the latter, I don't see how the capture of Saddam puts much of a dent in it.
There's also the fact that those who feared that opposition to American occupation meant the possibility of Saddam returning now may have more incentive to violently resist and less reason to refrain from resistance.
