The Mood in Carter Country....
We are all, of course, very happy that Saddam Hussein has been captured. (I was not happy, however, that somebody called me so early in the morning to tell me about it.) I don't know if this changes much as far as the war effort goes; time will tell that. But I would just like to say that I discourage anyone from any partisanship in this matter- it will only be used as a cry to rally the right wing. The fact remains that if Bush wins reelection next year, Saddam Hussein will not be to blame for it.

The fate of the entire nation is in the hands of Iowans. I'm not so sure that I'm comfortable with that, but that's how it is. Peace,

Dob Bole
