By keeping him alive, the trial should start next year just as the election heats up. They can bring out news about Saddam when they need a diversion. This is perfect for the chimp and Rove. Big trouble for us.
2. I think he will be carted out-but no one will care.
If the US did have him in custody already they should have "captured" him in uniform while sitting on a gold toilet and giving telephone orders for "his" insurgents to attack US soldiers.
This Saddam seems to have no money, no troops, and no power. How could he be directing the hits against Americans ?
just caught themselves a VERY big fish. He can be useful for all kinds of things. Many nights of melodramatic diversion for us all.
The point is, Saddam is a tin pot dictator. He's of no use to them now. They might think that things will settle down in Iraq once he's been XKO's but it won't.
Iraqis will continue to fight, regardless of what happens to Saddam. So they will use him as a distraction.
Capturing Sadam alive was bad for bush. He can now stand in front of the court and say I opened my country up to inspectors and we had no WMD but america attacked us anyway despite our full cooperation.
With him dead bush could paint him however he wanted without any rebutal now he will have to face the truth of his misadventure from sadam himself. This will end up being very bad for bush IMHO.
I would lay dollars to doughnuts that when bush heard he was captured alive his first reactions was... FUCK!
This also allows the American public who supported the war to forget about it, and think about how their buddy just lost their job. Or whatever happened to Osama.
Thw WMD reason is gone, and Now the Sadam reason is gone. I have to agree with many of our Dem candidates today and say we now have no reason for being there. Time to get a government in place and get our kids the hell out of there. The only reason for us to be there now is the real reason we went in in the first place.
