Tinfoil Saddam theories -- air them here
Edited on Sun Dec-14-03 08:15 AM by Newsjock
OK, tinfoil-hatters, face it: You've seen the news conference, you've seen the mugshots, you've seen the video -- and you don't believe a second of it.

They had Saddam long before today, and they've picked now for some unknown reason.

It's not really Saddam -- after all, who's verified it?

Or perhaps something milder: Might the story of the capture turn out to be as embellished as Jessica Lynch's?

Whatever it is, you've got a suspicion that something ain't right here. C'mon, go ahead, air 'em and let the hypothesis run rampant. We're here to support you.

1. well
the two pictures from "today." His beard and his mustache looked completely different colors. His beard was very grey and then after they shaved him his mustache was dark black. Seemed kind of odd.

9. They had him all the time I believe
It was getting a little hot with Halliburton, Germany, France,
Canada and Russia. I believe he was in our custody all along....Just had to turn him lose to distract and move the Shrub's numbers up. What do you wanna bet we suddenly find Osama just before election day? I am just tired of all of their lying ! They have him too but it was more important to turn Saddam lose ! And profitable !

23. Should've just sent some cruise missles into tents in the Sudan
Should've just saved Saddam for X-MAS. He could've flown out to the troops again and stood next to a cardboard cutout of Saddam...he's good at that ya know.

2. Why, and they just set up tribunals to try former Ba'athists....
Prague, 11 December 2003 (RFE/RL) -- The U.S.-appointed Iraqi Governing Council this week set up a special tribunal to try former members of the Iraqi Ba'athist regime for crimes against humanity.

The creation of the tribunal, which will be staffed and led by Iraqi nationals, resulted from months of work. It will take many more months before the first trials actually start in Baghdad.

Iraqi Governing Council president Abd al-Aziz al-Hakim, in announcing the tribunal yesterday, said it was a historic achievement.

"This court will try cases of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from 17 July 1968 till 1 May 2003," al-Hakim said.

8. WHAT?!?! They weren't supposed to catch him until next fall!
The Halliburton thing is a little fishy.

Also, note that Gen. Clark is heading to The Hague this week to testify against Milosevic.

11. I believe it is him
Face it, he was destined to be found eventually.

It sounds like either our guys found him by chance, or Saddam was jusst tired of hiding and decided to resign to his fate.

b. Our guys found him by chance. They got pretty lucky.

c. The timing sucks for Bush (early Sunday morning? Right before Xmas?) They could have milked this into 2004.

14. The plan always was to capture Saddam alive.
After all his GOOD FREIND Don Rumsfeld would never let anything happen to him.

Saddam is going to be treated with kid gloves, maybe even be moved into one of his old palaces - for "security" ya' know - before he's diagnosed with some advanced form of deadly inoperable cancer.

19. The Deaths of Children in Afghanistan and suicides of troops
made SOME news event necessary.

Also, they want Dean OFF the headlines on the talk shows today because of the Gore endorsement.

I think they had to have had Saddam the whole damn time (or at least knew where he was)and today was the day for him to come out.

Right out of Mission Impossible, this fake event.

That is my :freak:  :tinfoilhat: for the day.

I DO believe this is probably stage managed for maximum political effect and has been.

But it could be that our troops just got it right despite Bush and Cheney and CONGRATULATIONS to them!!!

24. Saddam's capture
will erase that nasty Halliburton scandal from news coverage. It will eliminate a lot of things from being discussed.

Of course they've had him for months, just waiting till the right moment. They could't present him dead - not after the Uday/Qusay business. Jack Ruby will appear, I'm sure. Or a convenient suicide. He won't be a canary.

They'll save Osama and Ronnie Reagan for later in 2004. Osama in the spring - probably dead - and Ronnie in October 24 - definitely dead.

25. my thing is...
Edited on Sun Dec-14-03 09:16 AM by imax2268
I posted this on it's own thread but then I found this thread...

The coverage on CNN confuses me a bit...I don't doubt that it's Saddam...It sure looks like him...but I heard several different things this morning...

first they said that he was caught wearing a fake beard...then they show the video of him being looked at...and he still has the beard...then they show a picture of him shaven...why would he need to shave if he was wearing a fake beard...

Then they said that he was captured in a store...which changed to a "storeroom"...now they are saying that it's a rural farm house...

is it because there is so much info coming in that they can't keep their facts straight or what...?

27. It's all about $$$$....Gold over $400 is not good for the Central Bankers
short on gold...the falling dollar needs to be propped up.

These are the folks that run the world...big money. I would not be surprised if this were not orchestrated.

$400 oz for gold is "too much heat"...and they are short.

In the last few months, "tinfoil" has become progressively less far-fetched, no?

Having said that, it sure looks like Saddam, even with the long hair and the beard.

:freak:

Edited to add: "What are we NOT supposed to notice while this story is all over TV?" is a worthy question now.
