Tenacious D (Jack Black's band) & Mellencamp fundraisers for Edwards
Maybe Ashton Kutcher will be at the LA event.

(12/13/03) U.S. Sen. John Edwards' campaign has plans to rock this weekend.

The White House aspirant will be in Los Angeles Saturday for a fundraiser featuring the raucous music of Tenacious D, a band that includes the musician and actor Jack Black. Tickets to the event, to be held at the trendy Cafe-Club Fais Do-Do, are $125. The club's web site boasts that it "hosts parties no one ever forgets."

The mood may be just a bit mellower Sunday when Edwards is scheduled to head to LeRoy, Ill., for a high-dollar fundraiser at a supporters' home. John Mellencamp will be providing the entertainment. The Indiana-born rocker's 1982 hit, "Small Town," has become the theme song of Edward's presidential campaign.

2. Black was on Democracy, Now! a few weeks back RAILING about the crazy
political mood in America.

He had a funn comment about Republicans. He said that hearing about people liking Bush is, for him, like hearing that NASCAR is the most popular sport in the world. Where are all these NASCAR fans? Nobody he knows watches NASCAR and NOBODY he knows likes Bush.

9. Here's a quick example: EXPLICIT LYRICS
I adore Tenacious D. I love them with a passion. I won't even get into how great they are, but this is what Edwards can expect:

"Fuck Her Gently"

This is a song for the ladies
But fellas listen closely
You don't always have to fuck her hard
In fact sometimes that's not right to do
Sometimes you've got to make some love
And fuckin give her some smoochies too
Sometimes ya got to squeeze
Sometimes you've got to say please
Sometime you've got to say hey
I'm gonna Fuck you softly
I'm gonna screw you gently
I'm gonna hump you sweetly
I'm gonna ball you discreetly
And then you say hey I bought you flowers
And then you say wait a minute sally
I think I got somethin in my teeth
Could you get it out for me
That's fuckin teamwork
Whats your favorite posish?
That's cool with me
Its not my favorite
But I'll do it for you
Whats your favorite dish?
Im not gonna cook it
But ill order it from Zanzibar
And then I'm gonna love you completely
And then I'll fuckin fuck you discreetly
And then I'll fucking bone you completely
But then I'm gonna fuck you hard
Hard

11. It just shows. . .
. . .that unless a celeb comes out and says "I am exclusively for candidate A" we should not read too much into it. I think this great, I hope all the celebs will be ABB and then rally around whomever the eventual nominee is.

12. What you can read into it: they're not for the people they don't fundraise
for?

13. Why read anything into it?
What's so important about trying to squeeze a bigger implication out of it?

14. Because I heard Jack Black on Democracy Now saying critical things about
the political mood in America, and I don't think he'd be doing this if he didn't see that there was some connection between his world view and Edwards's.
