Letter to the Times on David Brooks, Satirist

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/12/opinion/L12DEAN.html

To the Editor:

In "The Mysterious Stranger" (column, Dec. 9), the satirist David Brooks condemns a politician who pretends to be rural when in fact he comes from an elite urbane family; who bounces back and forth from the center to the extreme wing of his party, depending on the audience; who runs for president without mentioning his real record as governor.

Mr. Brooks would have us believe that the target of his criticism is a character of his invention called "Howard Dean." The device is clever, but careful readers will see that Mr. Brooks has decided to tell the truth about our president, George W. Bush.

2. hahhhhhhhhhhhhh
did you see Lehrer?

he did it again......satirized himself, by calling the B* admin "too honest" in dealing with foofraw generated by its handling of the Iraq reconstruction contracts.

said they were just too honest in admitting that they didn't like those shirkers from Germany, France, Russia, etal, and were just too upfront about not dealing with those they didn't like.

for a change Mark Shields called him on his BS, saying that it was just electioneering, catering to the xenos who want to see those frogs, trogs, and wogs put paid for failing to fall in with the PNAC manifestoids.

Shields reverted to DLC shitheadedness right after that, going after Gore for failing to "call Lieberman before" he announced for Dean, and abandoning the center, or some weak BS. really embarrassingly lame.

can you imagine Cliff May criticizing B* for ANYthing? ever?

3. Brooks borrowed that from his column today.
Or vice versa. Emphasis on the vice.

4. how can you read that stuff, even to see what they're "thinking:?"
it's all I can do to listen all the way through their screeds on TV.

often have to mute part way through; otherwise it's Elvis time
