1. If any of the candidates have direct ties to the Republican Party....
or those who raise money for them, I will not vote for them. Especially Howard Dean.

I don't approve of this ad, but I haven't approved of any of the Rovian tactics Dean has used all year either. So now you know how everybody else has really felt when Dean has acted very badly.

5. Dean's tactics are those of a winner. Quod errat demonstrandum
There is no more shrewd a move than getting the oppositions (former) money bringers to fatten up one's own coffers instead. This move should not be condemned, but hailed.

It is the move of a winner.

7. Then use the opposition's rhetoric
Same damn difference. If it defeat's Dean, he wouldn't have beat Bush anyway.

2. I'm sure someone on DU will find "direct ties"
to one candidate or another.

I'm still ABB.

6. Well, the funders will be one group of people
and some intrepid DU researcher will certainly find the 6 degrees of separation between that group and one or more of the candidates.

I understand that you're angry at the attack ad, but isn't it basically what Dean would be up against in 2004? If Dean can respond well to this, he'll be stronger. He got around the confederate flag attack... why couldn't he get around this?

9. I understand that this is what Dean would be up against if he wins the nom
in fact, he might face this exact same ad since it comes straight oughta the Republican playbook.

it is absolutely despicable for people who call themselves Democrats to attack a candidate like this.

and if any of the candidates are involved, and don't have the balls to put their name on the ad… fuck em'.

16. It comes out of the Republican playbook
But please consider that it also reflects the anxiety of a number of undecided voters (Democrats and Republicans). They want to know if Dean is a candidate they can trust on issues of national security. Now it's Dean's chance to tell them.

26. But it's not being funded by Republicans, is it?
It's being funded by Democrats. A sleazy, cheap shot, fear-mongering ad funded by our fellow Democrats.:puke:

Under FEC regulations that info will be out in February.

17. Dear God in Heaven! Please don't make me agree with Pruner.
Damn! That's what happens when you beleive in a Supreme Being.

If there was any proof that any candidate had a direct tie to this scurrilous ad (and that doesn't mean by way of somebody once involved with a campaign but who quit or was fired--we all know how vicious political operatives can be) then that candidate should be denied any support from that moment forward.

There are tricks and pranks and stunts but this ad is a lie and it is demeaning to all of us.

Okay, God? I agreed with him.

Now leave me alone.

23. we know who the group is…
but not who's behind the group… although former employees of the Gephardt & Kerry campaigns are known to be involved.

they don't have to disclose everyone who's involved until February.

No Democrat who would choose to attack another Democrat with the face of Osama bin LAden will get my vote.

Gephardt and Kerry are already dangerously close to this thing. This bears investigation.
