A thought for the unemployed
My job seems secure for the moment. I had a visit from our new CFO. I am an accountant and as he left he told me to keep up the good work.

I know there are a lot of people out there who do good work but find themselves unemployed because their employer decided to cut payroll costs.

I asked myself why my employer hasn't done that and part of the answer is that I work for Mitsui, a Japanese company. The Japanese unlike Americans think long term. They can take some years of losing money if they believe in the product that the company is making. We make biopesticides. They are pesticides that do not use chemicals but use organisms to kill bugs. The Japanese believe in this technology so in thinking long term they know it takes years to build this business.

My advice to people is to look for jobs at companies that are foreign owned that do not think short term like American companies do.

1. Good Advice, I just got a job at a privately held company
Start tomorrow, been out of work since November. The company can work long-term since they don't have to answer to stockholders. I had to commit to a year of C-trick, but that is the price you pay to get back into the workforce. Who knows, I might just like that shift.

4. Unemployed since January
I'll work ANYWHERE!

Foreclosure on my house soon to begin. Bankruptcy. I'll have to cash what little I have oin a 401K to save my car. I send out a half dozen resumes a week and rarely get so much as a reject letter. Unemployment will run out soon.

I've had about as much "compassionate conservatism" as I can stand!
