only in a case of national security where people lives would be in danger if they knew something.

10. I imagine somewhere in Bush's fickle mind, he thinks his lies are about
National Security.

26. Preisdential spokeman is asked
are we going to attack country z, spokemsan knows we are attacking country z. spokesman says I don't know or no. Either would be a lie. It would be a lie that would save us from anti aircraft fire. In WW2 we routinely lied to the press about our war plans. We denied repeatedly that we were invading Normandy. We denied we were invading Italy.

3. Flamebait
Like all your other previous posts, and it is also a violation of GD rules. It is my sad duty to press the alert button (once again!).

Like we say in Puerto Rico... Adios pato!

I can see the headlines tomorrow,

DEAN SAYS IT'S O.K. TO LIE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

I support Clark, but this shit by the media is getting ridiculous.

6. His answer was decent
He should probably have said something like, "only in a circumstance like the Cuban missile crisis" and then talked about how that was a REAL threat to security, rather than an imagined one.

But it did come rather out of the blue...

8. I'm afraid that answer
is going to come back to haunt him. If * gets caught in a lie, can't ya just hear him... "As Mr. Dean himself once said, sometimes it is necessary to lie in the interest of national security. I did what I had to do to protect the American people blah blah blah blah blah."

15. The answer was quite a bit more specific than that
it wasn't just "national security," but more focused on infdividual lives.

There is a very good chance he will be selected to put a Democrat face on the PNAC strategies!

19. I Think the NH Guy Asked That Question
But Koppel was absolutely out of control. What a smug fuck.

I am wondering if they've got some "gotcha" dirt they're going to spring on Dean about him lying while he was governor.

20. Dean did a very, very, very poor job of
answering that question. He gave Bush an opening. Wasn't the Dean campaign prepared for this. Looks like they will be doing damage control for the next month.

Yes, when it's a national security/lives at stake issue, which is the "right" answer, even if it's bait for a smear.
