3. What's the demographic makeup of most AOLers?
Aren't they mostly blue collar, low-wage, non-degreed folks who prefer entertainment to information?

9. All AOL polls run 3-2 GOP
the questions are usually framed to give repugs an edge (two positive answers for *, and one negative answer that always goes something like "no, I do not support the president and his efforts to preserve our freedoms").

19. Given that, wouldn't it bring Dean and Bush-hole to a near parity?
I'm not a statistician but it seems to me that if you accomodate for a 3-2 favoring of AOL polls to the GOP, then the Dean 36% to Bush 56% would actually be closer to them being only a few percentage points apart, yes?

This looks like good news for Dean to me.

10. I've been on AOL
for about 8 years now. The polls are always lopsided to the right. This poll actually looks good for the left.

:kick:

I'm white collar, low-wage, degreed.

11. AOL Has a Base of People Who Don't Wanna Mess with Computers
It's gotten better in recent years, but.. when I ask people why they're on AOL, the #1 reason I get from people who are no longer intimidated by a computer is that they just don't want the hassle of shopping/hunting around for apps.

12. Whistling past the graveyard?
Don't kid yourself. Dean has consistently done the worst of any of the Dems vs. Bush in multiple polls. This can and will change of course (hope hope), but there is no denying that Bush wants Dean to win the nomination.

The problem for Dean is that to win the Dem nomination he has to out left the rest of the pack. But to win the national election he has to be centrist and optimistic. I sure hope he has a good strategy. The best thing he can do for himself is choose either Graham or Clark as a VP.

5. So AOL/Time Warner, on whose board Powell once sat
has a poll favoring Bush? Was this scientific, or online?

Onlines are useless, especially when they are run by conservative organizations who can leak to one party that there will be such a poll so that said party can do a little stuffing, a little pushing.

It will be interesting to see how real polls show a head-to-head, though.

6. Risky synopsis...
In the online world, AOL users are the Wal Mart Nation of the net. Not the brightest lot in the bunch. Perfect territory for those who don't like to think too much, and thus, Bush territory all the way. Which means, this poll actually is BAD for Bush...he should be playing much better with the Price Rollback crowd.

Flame on, AOLers...I call 'em as I see 'em. If I don't see 'em, I make 'em up!

17. The other thread on this topic --
just noted that this is a vote early and often type of poll. It's meaningless. And its just AOL. We're not talking about consumers who discriminate quality very well.

18. I left AOL because of the high Republican content there. You should
hang out on the message boards with the people who vote in these polls. They'll make you puke.
