The Talent Factor
The 2000 presidential election had the no-talent son of George Bush Sr. against the no-talent son of Al Gore Sr. It was hard to tell who was more out of touch with ordinary people. The presidential debates were especially lackluster.

This time out, Bush is going to be up against a guy with the ability to reshape the national dialogue about issues. He's so flat-footed that the Democratic candidate will outmaneuver him at every turn. The election may turn out to be surprisingly one-sided. There is much to dislike about George Bush. He won't mumble his way through the 2004 election.

1. I agree with you
and that's accepting the generic "Democratic candidate."

2. Biggest question for the fall campaign:
Will Dub and his handlers actually AGREE to debate the Dem. nominee?:eyes:

Part of me says "Chip" Rove will resist until public pressure is too great--and then try to schedule one debate in the last two weeks of the campaign, just to be able to say that Dub agreed to debate, period. It will look bad on Dub's part, but Rove will have succeeded in keeping Dub out of verbal harm's way--his OWN verbage, that is--until the last possible minute. Whether that will be enough to save Dub's hide is the question. Me thinks it will hurt Dub's prospects much more than help, but such pretzel (pun intended!:eyes: ) logic IS the Repubs' M.O.

B-)

3. it looks like there are 3 scheduled already...
The first debate will take place September 30, 2004 at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, followed by a second meeting October 8 at Washington University in St. Louis. The final debate is scheduled for October 13 at Arizona State University in Tempe.

A debate among the major party vice presidential candidates will be held at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland October 5.

But I wouldn't put it past * to try to weasel out of them if at all possible, and I expect * and his handlers to be working the refs at every oppertunity...
