This just breaks my heart

The scrolling news on msnbc had this to say (I'm paraphrasing)American Olympic Athletes will not wear any USA colors or symbols when not competing. We can not wear our Country's colors at the olympics without fear of harm. Now we will have another group of America's young people to fear for in Athens. Bush is the single worst thing to happen to our country EVER.

I searched for a link to this story without success. If anyone finds one please post it.

1. At least the French will be wearing them.
I think it's pretty silly for people to think that red white and blue are "American" colors.

7. They are our colors
and now because of our standing in the world our athletes could be targets. I think the anyone wearing red, white, and blue should be cautious.

9. You realize that they hate Bush, right?
Bush is the incarnate example of everything that makes us not so popular in international circles. Maybe "they" (whoever "they" are) don't only hate Bush, but he doesn't have many friends that he hasn't bought or fooled.

Everyone else has plenty of reasons to hate Bush, just for being himself.

11. yes, they DO hate Bush but they hate you and I too
And, no, I don't think their hate is any greater or smaller as a result. Hate is hate.

If there is a difference its that they area getting more money from the likes of the Saudis et al.

10. As far as I know terrorist activities started during the Reagan presidency
And you say it's not intended as a Clinton slam, so why did you mention Clinton and not Bush I, Reagan or Carter?

20. Yes it is BUSH, not "americans" that they hate.
Funny how all this was almost non-existant during the LAST administration.

Funny how Clinton can go ANYWHERE and is mobbed with adoring fans, while bunkerboy can't shit without massive security and only near hand picked "supporters".

they can spot an american three blocks away. colors will not be required to identify Americans. another lame brained gesture that is utterly futile.

19. America fucked Greece and overthrew their government
No shit they're not forgiving the nasty nation.... in the last year, they've nixed a british diplomat as well.... how sympathetic do you think americans would be to a nation that fucked over one of our elections and destroyed the constitution? .. even a coupla decades later.

Its not just about american hatred blind... rather rightful concern and distrust over american abuse of power.

Another poster is right, the bush-hatred bleeds over amongst people who don't really know any americans in to anti-american disgust... and loathing of big mouthed, fat assholes who treat their countries like provinces of their fat empire.

Believe me, i live in europe and deal with that sentiment every day... but i myself would be extremely low key in Greece... i have many greek friends where we've had enough drinks for them to confess their prejudice against "america" and then treat me as an individual... likely the olympic athletes won't quite have the time to penetrate the national war crimes of previous american behaviour.

26. more fear mongering.
the rove machine is just trying to get us to believe the world hates us, just so we can hate the world out of spite.

they could run around in athens wearing nothing but american flag loin cloths and no harm would come of them. maybe some fines, but no harm.

the people who released this warning to the athletes probably think that the rest of the inhabitants of the world act like americans.
