Penn State's GOP Chair posts bigoted pictures on personal website
The Chair of the Penn State College Republicans is under fire from the Black Caucus, a student group, and administrators after posting pictures of himself and fellow College Republicans from a Halloween Party.
One unidentified student drinking a beer was dressed as a Klansman. The caption is alleged to have read "He took a break from cross burning to drink a cold one." Another College Republican, Jason Covener, wore blackface and carried a bicycle chain as a Takkeem Morgan costume (Morgan is student govt.'s vice-president, who pled guilty to criminal mischief after taking a bicycle he thought was abandoned). Covener himself was expelled from PSU several years ago after he hacked into other students' e-mail accounts, allegedly to gather information for political blackmail.
Other offensive costumes included "oversodomozed frat pledge," "sororstitute" (sorority girl/prostitute...not sure if it is strictly local slang), and child-molesting priest.

1. This young twerp...
Needs a few lessons about his real place in the cosmic scheme of things. I recommend that he start training at the Penn State Isshinryu Karate Club. I can assure you that, quite quickly, he will learn his place in the grander plan of the universe. Some of that learning will take place while healing. ;-)

2. GOP has become the party of hate
Edited on Sun Dec-07-03 11:26 AM by ithacan
just like right-wing extremist parties the world over, the Republicans are now a party appealing to white voters based on hatred and fear.

It's all they have to run on. These young college republicans are the face of the future of the GOP. They're not even embarrassed by the blatantly extremist racism they are expressing.

on edit:
I should say, they are the face of TODAY'S GOP...

3. Today's young Republicans. Brainwashed since birth.
We reap the whirlwind of all the years of Limbaugh and his ilk. So now oppressing and humiliating others because of their race is his right as a "personal liberty" issue, eh? What a piece of garbage.

4. I can't figure out
what kind of website wasthis?

Was it the college website of the Campus Republicans, or was it his personal website?

It makes a difference to me. If he wants to show female nude dwarf relay races on his own personal website, I'll defend him. If it was the college's website, then he should be in trouble.

8. It was his personal website
If it had been the organization's they would likely have been punished, fined or had their official status stripped. As it is his website the worst that can happen to him and the involved CRs is they can be pressured to resign from student govt. positions and UPAC (the board which allocates the student activity fee).

And they should resign, how can someone who holds African-Americans, Catholics, and fraternity and sorority members in blatant contempt represent their interests too?

9. If it's his personal website, then I'll defend
his freedom of speech.

As far as the college Republicans go, it's up to them who their leader should be. Of course they will be judged by who they choose. I would think they'd want to quietly get rid of him as quickly as they can. If they don't, he will be an albatross around their neck, and that's fine too.

5. My brother went to Penn State and observed the....
blatent disrespect the College "Republihitlers" had for any thing to the left of the hard right. They openly mocked the Democrats who are the dominant party on campus, Thank God!!!!! My brother did not see ANY minorities in their caucus. For the record, my brother is a Democrat!!!! A few years ago it was headed by some reich wing bitch who claimed that "diversity ruined America"! :puke:

7. Openly mocking the dominant political group on campus?
Isn't that what college kids are supposed to do? That's what we did. Did we go too far sometimes? Yeah probably, but if you can't go too far in college, when can you ever do it.

I'm really not too worried about college kids challenging authority on campus. It's kind of what I want college kids to do, and I realize that means they'll do stuff that offends me, but that's the way it goes.

6. You know what they should do?
They should have all gone as soldiers stationed in Iraq. And then they should FUCKING ENLIST because, apparently, they believe in this shit so much.

Maybe its because I am in the age group and I see these people every day, but I really hate the College Republicans. I think they should all be drafted.
