He hammers that home in every speech. I hope it starts to stick in people's minds....the fence sitters, I mean.

Dean is telling how good it is in Vermont. Poor Floridians still stuck with JEB and his losing policies. I am sure it pains them to hear how wonderful it is somewhere else. :(

19. Is Dean telling the truth?
On January 31, Dean told Ron Brownstein of the Los Angeles Times that "if Bush presents what he considered to be persuasive evidence that Iraq still had weapons of mass destruction, he would support military action, even without U.N. authorization.

And then on Feb. 20, Dean told Salon.com that "if the U.N. in the end chooses not to enforce its own resolutions, then the U.S. should give Saddam 30 to 60 days to disarm, and if he doesn't, unilateral action is a regrettable, but unavoidable, choice.

Then a day later, he told the Associated Press that he would not support sending U.S. troops to Iraq unless the United Nations specifically approves the move and backs it with action of its own. "They have to send troops," he said.

Four days later on PBS's News Hour with Jim Lehrer, Dean said United Nations authorization was a prerequisite for war. "We need to respect the legal rights that are involved here," Dean said. "Unless they are an imminent threat, we do not have a legal right, in my view, to attack them."

Then on June 22 2003: Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, another Democratic contender, followed Mr. Kerry's lead yesterday with a similar accusation on NBC's "Meet the Press."
"We were misled," Mr. Dean said. "The question is, did the president do that on purpose or was he misled by his own intelligence people?"

He goes into quiet dips in his speeches where the crowd naturally becomes quiet and intently listens. Then he brings it back with a rip-roar. I wonder if he does that naturally or if he was coached to do that. I think he's a good speaker.... maybe that's his "it" factor?

Retired Gen. Clark supports Swett, raises concerns about Iraq policy
By STEPHEN FROTHINGHAM,Associated Press Writer
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Retired U.S. Army Gen. Wesley Clark said Wednesday he supports a congressional resolution that would give President Bush authority to use military force against Iraq, although he has reservations about the country's move toward war.
----------------------
The general said he had no doubt Iraq posed a threat, but questioned whether it was immediate and said the debate about a response has been conducted backward.
"Normally in a debate, you start with a problem and consider possible solutions. Instead, the president has presented us with a solution before the problem has been fully articulated," he said.
"As far as the information we have now shows, there are no nuclear warheads on missiles pointed to America," he said. "You can't wait 10 years to act, but there is time on our side."
He said al-Qaida remains the largest terrorist threat against the United States, and the connection ----between al-Qaida and Iraq is unclear.
------------------------
After endorsing Swett in Nashua, he visited Manchester West High School and reassured history students that the threat of terrorism should be kept in perspective.
-----------------------
He said he shares the concerns he hears from many Americans about whether the country should act against Iraq without United Nations support and about how the United States will deal with Iraq after a successful invasion.
He also met in Portsmouth with the Democratic nominee in the 1st Congressional District, state Sen. Martha Fuller Clark.
A spokesman for Clark said the two were meeting to discuss foreign policy.

whoever the nomninee is, he/she won't be opting out for he general. public financing gives you $74 million to spend between the convention & the general election.

Bush will be accepting public financing for the general election.

63. I disagree!
Even with not opting out of the public financing, Clark still would be OK during the March to July period. As was suggested here, the various orgs that can collect and spend as much as they want to can provide the direct attacks ads against Bush, and get voter education running. The ground troups, including the unions could to their part in organizing in the various states. The grassroots can repeal the media via letter writing so that Clark doesn't get Gored. Clark can just advertise himself. It would actually work out really well, because he would not be making the attacks against Bush as directly; running a positive campaign full of hope and vision. I don't think that the not opting out really means "Dead Man Walking"...althought the campaigns of Kerry and Dean are making that case.

First of all, IF DEAN WINS the nomination. The GENERAL ELECTION WILL BE LOST. YES LOST!! 4 more years of CHIMPY FACE.

I listened to Dean, he's not the guy to be president. He will make a GREAT Senator but he's not president material. Dean reminds me of a CAR SALESMAN, he talks really fast and has his sleeves rolled up. People dont' trust car salesmen.

Not to mention that a red faced white dude that constantly talks about MLK and has somethingto prove.

You guys are totally blinded. Take a look at Dean. He found a void in the party and he is exploiting it and you.

Dean lies about that. They didn't vote for the 2001 taxcut or the 2003 taxcut.

In one amendment in 2003 they voted to reduce the last taxcut from 550 to 350 and then voted against that even in the final vote, but Dean Defense Force uses that amendment vote to deceive people into thinking the other Dems voted for Bush's taxcut.

DECEPTION....DEAN. AGAIN.

I'm pretty sure that it's a two man race at this point, as far as the hard-core Primary voters go.

It's Dean vs Clark. None of the other candidates get the same level of reaction out of their crowds.

83. There are only Clark and Dean signs
I saw a smattering of Kerry signs earlier. It must be quite dispiriting to be neither Clark or Dean and see the sea of your opponents signs.

Everyone else should drop out. There's simply no way any of them can win. Clark/Dean is a good pair to choose between.

I did think the "YOU HAVE THE POWER" was a little hokey, but the message came accross strong and firm!

But I do hope he picks up Clark as his running mate - not picking up Clark will make winning the election a whole lot tougher.

115. Dean is not going to fly here...
There may be a couple thousand die hard Dems cheering him on now, but this is a state of 16,000,000. Floridians, may like the message but will be turned off by the package. In this state, people want to have fun, no worries, liberal anger doesn't sell. I know he is a moderate, but his attempt to veer way left in the primaries is going to be a disaster. People are sick of Bush down here, but they react more positively to Edwards or Clark like packaging. I like his efforts to fire up the Dems, but he is falling into the GOP's traps. We have to win the war, know who your voters are. His message will fall flat in the suburbs, sun-belt, and the South. Unfortunately red faced populists don't win. Remember William Jennings Bryan? I like Dean, but he has to change the marketing.
