Hillary blasts Bush!! YAY!
Edited on Sat Dec-06-03 10:52 AM by Skinner

AUSTIN -- U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., on Friday blasted President Bush and his "radical" administration for attempting to dismantle the "central pillars of progress in our country during the 20th century."

Clinton, in an interview with two reporters, said she had become convinced the Republican administration wants "to undo the New Deal," the Roosevelt-era policies that ushered in Social Security and a host of other governmental assistance programs.

She said Bush, who campaigned as a "compassionate conservative" in 2000, had taken a "hard-right turn to pursue an extremist agenda" after moving into the White House.

"I don't know where it came from, but the fact is that this President Bush has not only been radical and extreme in terms of Democratic presidents but in terms of Republican presidents, including his own father," she said.

3. I respect her for doing that
but it took a while for the National Party to catch up with the activists.

However, Clinton will always hold a special place in my book.

5. Good...they need to get antagonized a bit.
After ten years of their mouth-froth and spittle, they start calling US "angry." Screw them, frickin' hypocrites. Give em hell, Hillary!

10. Hillary should just SHUT UP.
Edited on Sat Dec-06-03 07:18 AM by economic justice
She is a polarizing figure across the country and she is STILL attempting at every turn to steal thunder from our national candidates seeking the nomination. She knows that as a former first lady that she has "celebrity" and over shadows the candidates. If she wants to be president, she should get the hell in the race. If not....she should do what's best for the party .... and the country ... and that's for her to check her ego and allow the candidates for the nomination to make the headlines.

11. She happens to be a US Senator
and a citizen of country that used to have free speech. Many of us here feel that she does represent our point of view and that she has every right to speak her mind. If you don't like it, then go shove it where the sun don't shine.

Ask the other candidates about that. She has a responsibility, as a DEMOCRAT , to do what's best for the country (and NEW YORK) by allowing the candidates to advance without the baggage of Hillary Clinton. I'm curious, do you feel the same about Zell Miller? He's a senator! Free speech! But, he is trying to destroy the Democratic Party. In her own way, Hillary is doing the same. Can't you see that Hillary Clinton just CAN'T STAND IT when the spotlight is not on HER?

16. Anybody and everybody
has a right to speak their mind, including Zell Miller. At the same time I have the right to agree or disagree with them. Why do you want to control my right to listen to people that I want to hear? I'm certainly bombarded with the opinions of folks like Gingrich, Perle and Rush who are doing a lot more to destroy this country than even Zell Miller.

18. Control your "right"??
By thinking Hillary Clinton should either get IN the race for the nomination or shut up is not trying to "control your right".....it's prudent politics. Nobody is trying to control your right to anything... I don't know where that came from. Sorry, but some us of don't worship at the shrine of St. Hillary and recognize that the more she speaks out the more the Republicans solidify and the Independents swing to Bush. Again, the lady is NOTHING if not polarizing and obviously in her own party as well. Don't act like I am the only one thinking this - most Democratic observers agree with me 100%.

30.  Shut up Hill "most Democratic observers agree with me %100"?
Perhaps you could update your opinion by "observing" the percentage of "Democrats" responding positively to Hillary on this thread.

13. As Democrats, we need the discipline to stick together...
If Hillary -- or any other Democrat (candidate or not) wants to swing away at *, that is great. They should all do it more often. They all should have so much brass and spine.

I do not see how Hillary's going after * in any way "steals thunder" from any current Democratic candidates.

If Hillary is indeed a "polarizing figure," she was cast in that role by the incessant, repetitive, demonizing propaganda spit out by Faux News, RW hate radio, etc. Wingers are riled up by her because they are scared of her -- and that ain't bad in my book.

If we're gonna take down the RW machine that has our country in a death-lock, we need the discipline to stick together. If any Democrat publicly shows some fight, that should be supported and applauded.

Go Hillary.

15. The only thing wrong with that
It doesn't matter WHY she's a polarizing figure. She is. In the same way that the Bush people are trying to keep Katherine Harris off the ballot in Florida because of her bringing out the fight in Democrats; we should realize (actually most do except the far left at DU and other places) that Hillary Clinton is anathema to 50% plus of the population. Do we want to win in '04 or not? All that's important to Hillary is that Hillary gets the headlines. She is the most egocentric Democrat I know.

Answerable to Daschle and the other pink tu-tu wearing members of the DLC? She's doing her job by speaking out for Dems in general irreguardless of what "the powers that be" decided what's best for us voters.

Do you want to win the damn election in 2004 or not? If you want to LOSE then keep on screaming for Hillary to speak out. The CANDIDATES for president should be taking front and center right now and if you don't see that....well...what can I say?

23. Showed your real stripes with that post
"Your ilk..."

"why don't you go back to FR"

No dissent allowed from WITHIN OUR OWN PARTY without being told to "go back to Free Republic"??? Weren't you the one who just a few posts above was celebrating the fact that this is a free country and all citizens have a right to be heard?

This ends right here.

22. WHOEVER becomes the Democratic nominee will be cast as "anathema"
By Faux News and the RW machine. They're already starting in: Dean's "temper," Clark's "alleged" Waco ties, and a bunch of other trumped up, crap-propaganda.

And I don't believe that the GOP is pussyfooting anywhere -- in their arrogance, they don't give a damn about bringing out the fight in anyone. They are interested in *total* power, and a one-party system. Theirs.

It very much matters *why* Hillary -- or any other Democrat -- is cast as a polarizing figure, because that psy-op method is at the root of the RW stranglehold -- their 24/7 propaganda repeats the RNC talking points, until the sheeple can recite them in their sleep. As in "all Democrats want to do is raise your taxes," and other outright lies.

Are you sugggesting that the few Democratic Party office holders who have the spine to raise their voices against tyranny should be good little boys and girls and not make waves?

33. Let the non-candidates attack
I personally think it's best to have the non-candidates do most of the attacking of Bush. That way the candidates can focus on a positive message. Nobody should back down of course, but it would be nice to have the candidates talking about the issues and acting "presidential" and making America feel good about America. Let other people do the dirty work.

We do need to come together and we do need unity. The only way to do that is to speak with one voice, or else the sheeple will merrily go on with their lives not realizing Bush is Hitler until it is too late.
