4. The only thing in Bush supporters heads...
God, Guns, Gays and clinton's dick.

That's it. I know. I have tried to reason with some in my own family. It always comes back to those four issues. Always.

27. You mean Slappy Jesus?
I wish I could take 100% credit for it, but another DUer edited the frame in which JC slaps Shrub. I just took it and the original image and made a gif out of it... Thank you, though! :hi:

8. Hollow souls
Ignorant, selfish and hateful... stupid. I'm sorry i can't convince you. The soul of life has eschewed them...

Just if we let them get between us and our own enlightenment, we are just as stupid.

Its that second question that should be more concern to a wise person.

9. You ask an impossible thing!
Bush supporters are not the brightest bulbs. I know a few, and they either are very shallow, or they don't have a clue about world events, nevermind what the hell is going on in their own country. Instead of thinking, they just plug into Rush, Hannity, The 700 Club and Fox News and echo whatever they hear.

11. Some are just apathetic.
Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 09:50 PM by Cat Atomic
Last week I had lunch with someone I hadn't seen in over 10 years- an old high school friend. She's an intelligent person, and not mean spirited at all. We somehow got onto the subject of politics and she mentioned that she likes Bush. She went on to say that, though she supported the Iraq invasion at first, it seems to have just gone wrong. But she still likes Bush.

She doesn't follow politics or the news. She isn't stupid, she's just apathetic and dangerously ignorant.

12. They are a people with a lot of faith.
They don't think that this guy can mess things up so bad that they cannot be repaired. And they rather enjoy the corruption that has come about because of the absolute power of their Party.

13. I wouldn't even try to convince you PeteNYC
'Cause I respect you too much to lie to you.

And if I'm judged elitist and condescending for
calling them stupid (in reference to a recent thread
at DU) after the hell of the last three years,
then that's fine. 'Cause they're stupid.
S-T-U-P-I-D.
Anyone who truly can't see the direct effect of Bush Inc's
vile actions on their own lives and the lives of others,
as well as the planet, is stupid.
Regardless of how good they they talk or the fact that
they manage not to drool when they talk.

I'm sick of trying to tiptoe around the obvious fact
that so many 'Merkans are lazy, terrified, and STUPID.

There, I've said it! Ahh haa haa haaaa!
Free at last...

14. A lot of them are in denial - especially the angry white men
I know a very bright engineer who is a totally programmed
dittohead. This guy has been screwed over his entire career,
and Rush has convinced him to blame it on liberals. Its
the liberals fault that his job was sent overseas. Its the
liberals fault that the Medicare bill takes away his medical
benefits.

This guy, who is financially secure, but not rich by any
stretch, and medically very compromised, insists that according
to statistics, he is "rich" but the tax code robs him. I point
out that if he really was rich, he would be in a tax bracket
where he wouldn't get robbed. He doesn't listen.

He is an angry middle-aged boomer who is getting screwed
by the GOP while blaming the liberals.

Rush is so good at scapegoating, at playing the victim. He
gives these people a caricature to hate. This engineer and
me have come to shouting matches; so we have agreed not
to talk about politics anymore.

But, these types are REALLY SCARY. They are smart, they have
money, and they hate Democrats.

19. I know one (not especially smart or rich though)...
He blamed affirmative action for his rejection from West Point,
and blamed liberals for downsizing the Army so he couldn't have a career there
(having come of military age during the Carter administration when we didn't go to war with anybody).
Now that Bush has plunged us into war on a semi-permanent basis, he is too old for military service.
He believes that Bush* can do no wrong, and swallows Rush, Hannity, and FauxNews whole and recommends them to his friends.

16. Here's the exit poll data from 2000
What was the last grade of school you completed?
Did not complete high school Gore-59, Bush 39
High school graduate Gore-48, Bush-49
Some college or associate degree Gore-45, Bush-51
College graduate Gore-45, Bush-51
Postgraduate study Gore-52, Bush-44

1999 total family income:
Under $15,000 Gore-57, Bush-37
$15,000-$29,999 Gore-54, Bush-41
$30,000-$49,999 Gore-49, Bush-48
$50,000-$74,999 Gore-46, Bush-51
$75,000-$99,999 Gore-45, Bush-52
$100,000 or more Gore-43, Bush-54

The groups that Gore got his most solid support from were high school drop-outs and people earning less than $ 15,000 per year.

Bush's most solid groups of support came from people who graduated college and people who made over $ 100,000 per year.

17. i'm afraid they are stupid
The puppet was chosen to appeal to his audience -- the stupid people, the sheeple, the fools that come to have their pockets picked. I've had some dear friends who were wingnuts and one thing they all had in common was a blazing lack of intelligence.

The ones who are not stupid are just evil or heartless. In another thread in the lounge, a questionable poster was arguing that it was OK to deny medical care to the poor and that he allowed his own father to die because he didn't have money for his cancer treatments. Yikes!

But most are not so cruel as to wish to take medicine from their own parents. Most are just not bright enough to figure out the basic laws of cause and effect. As they are not capable of thinking for themselves, they will believe whatever they're told loudly and belligerently enough.

21. They think different
That's all. There are people who really do prefer to just go to work, send kids to school, and not worry about much else. If a tragedy comes around, they'll take care of it themselves. They really see no use for government except to kick the shit out of anybody that they can't. George Bush is their guy, unless we can show them why things really aren't this simple.

The truth is they don't care. They don't watch his speeches or unscripted questions and answers, they watch the little snips they see on the news which tend to gloss over his language deficit.

22. Sports Analogy
Ever had a favorite team...usually this happens in High School or College.

Now you know this team is not very good or bad, but you have to find any positive and maginify it...also to minimilize the losses. The quarterback is the greatest playmaker just completing a pass and any game where he walks off the field is a victory in itself. You ignore the dirty play or even encourage it if it means a coveted victory...the overall score that counts.

This is how I sum up a lot of the Busheviks...stuck on the team high or low and looking for any excuse when things go bad (that dreaded concept of personal responsibility...they refuse to accept it) or a reason to cheer loud over the smallest thing.

My wife compares this to parents with young children. They can trash your living room but you have to love them cause they're yours.

The good thing I'm sensing is this team isn't as big as the RNC thinks...there are a lot of "cloth coat" Repugnicans who are getting antsy about seeing friends and family go off to war, troubles either finding or keeping a job and no real prospect things are gonna get any better any time soon. They won't vote against the bastard, but they sure aren't being motivated to pull levers, either, and that's not a bad thing.

24. I agree, Pete
they must know he's a bumbling moronic fool. I know for sure if a Democrat behaved that way I'd be wailing about it. I guess conservatives put their party above the interests of America, and that is beyond sad.

25. 3 Types of Republicans; Uninformed, Misinformed and Deformed
Misinformed - brainwashed by 100+ years of govt and corp propaganda.
Uninformed - Selfish, proud-to-be-stupid pukes.
Deformed - Followers of the proud-to-be-stupid pukes, typical fat reject, redneck, beer-guzzling religious freak Ford drivers.

The uninformed can be educated.
The misinformed need a epiphany, a moment of great or sudden revelation.
The deformed are hopeless, they'll stay dumb and racist at all costs.
