How many DUers Male and Female are Draft age?

How are you feeling about the possibility of being called up?
If any of you have any Republicans in your family how do they feel about Shrub regarding the Draft?

1. I am not of draft age
and my son is only 12 years old. Still with perpetual war on the horizon I worry. I seriously consider Canada if Bush steals '04.

No child of mine will die for Halliburton.

are draft age. Looks like time to start building that hidden room in the basement...

4. No but I am getting there
I cant be to my knowledge due to my heart condition. If you wanna know why I am here now and not at school, staying home today. Now on the draft, I am scared, even though I cant be, I worry about my classmates and friends. Sigh, you realize how young these guys are, kids pratically.

13. Here's to peace on Earth...
...for at least 10 days, then.

I actually became a US citizen (and thus eligible to be drafted) when I was 26.

7. 18-26
I think they start with 20 year olds, then go up to 26. Once they get to 26, they go to 18 & 19.

11. Me too...My lil bro is 21
They'll take him over my dead body, and I mean that. I will shoot my brother in the leg if I have to, if it means him not having to die for the eternal BUSHWAR.

14. Its scary isnt it
All these wars have made me very near pacifist, I am not a pacifist but damnit I almost am. These wars are pushing my limits, the wars in fact and making war rare are one of the reasons why I support who I support.

10. Wait this draft has women in it for like nurses
My mom is eligible then. I know it seems odd for me to worry not being of age and with the heart condition, but look at my sig, about comrades, I am afraid that my good friends and people I have grown up with will be drafted.

12. In theory, though, couldn't older people get drafted too?
18-26 seems like it would be the first "wave" of draftees. I'm 28, btw. The next stage would be another age group, right? I thought you could theoretically get drafted all the way until you're 55.

15. I am, as are my brothers
but they won't take me- I'm certifiable and have too many medical conditions (arthritis, asthma).

They'll sure as heck take my brothers though. Young, fit, and probably not willing to move to Canada.

19. I Missed Nam By One Year...Now It's My Son's Turn
He's 16 and very concerned (he reads the military posts that I do...and is all but convinced * will reinstitute the draft immediately following stealing the next election) about having to go to Iraq. I don't blame him and remember my own dread as Vietnam dragged on during my High School years.

I've told him that if that time comes, I would suggest he do what I planned to. Not to run to Canada, but stay here and fight the good fight...there are ways (as * demonstrated) to hide inside the military. I was told that it was the "the poor, clueless bastards who get stuck in the "shit""...and to volunteer for a specialized service such as AFRS (Armed Forces Radio) or Aircraft maintenance...programs you can sign up for prior to enrolling.

His fear isn't alone...he tells me it's a constant topic among his friends these days...especially when a story comes back from someone whose brother or friend has ended up in Iraq. Many are afraid to speak out to be jumped on as "Un-American" (many by their own parents), but I am hearing a lot of young people asking some very serious questions. Too bad their parents (waiving those stupid flags atop their gas-guzzling SUV) don't have a clue. Most lucked out...missed Nam and are too old to serve now. Unfortunately, that's the core base of the dittohead generation.

but I have three cousins who are either of age or will be in the next few years.

My own kids (boys) are almost 4 and almost 6. If we are still in Iraq by the time they are "draftable" I will go throw eggs at the Bu$h Kennebunkport compound, then head for Canada. (Hopefully they'll still be letting people over the border. If not, we'll be "lobstermen" for a few days and slip into Yarmouth or Halifax or something.)
