The Marriage Protection Act??? Was THAT what he's trying to get signed? He needs to get a life instead of worrying about what people do in their own bedrooms. Sheesh! He has waaaaaaay too much time on his hands.

He calls the republicans "Family Friendly?" Riiiiight! As long as they're heterosexual.

4. Marriage is Fundamental
in our society? Since when? I can't believe they want to ammend the constitution over this. These RW Christian fundamentalists are running rough shod over our government, constitution and civil liberties. We need to stop them!

6. Carville said it best yesterday
In a fifty-fifty country, the conservatives are serving up 90-10 legislation.

5. Now I know why they put this guy as president
he said he still doesn't know why he is the head of the FRC. He was just put on.

He is this nice down to Earth guy. The kind of guy who ISN'T like Gary Bauer.

Well, we know that all of this is just a front. The kind of people who he represents are people like Phelps and the rest of the crazy fundies that hate GLBT people, not disagree with them.

7. What Are These Doofus' Scared About? They Won't Get Any???
To me this issue can't be more cut and dried. There are two types of marriages. One is the emotional kind, the other the legal one. The emotional one is the bond between two people...be it of the same or opposite sex and no holier than thou can describe it, legislate it or moralize about it. In my case I've been emotionally married to my best friend for 27 years. The other is the legal...the 21 years I have been married to my wife...a legal contract we entered into that is used in the division of our assets, the fate of our children and our obligations to one another in a purely financial matter (health insurance, etc.).

I've never trusted a goon with the title "family" in their name since that's the last thing they have in mind (usually their pockets and egos come first)...and this excuse for a humanoid form is a perfect example.

If these hypocrites were really concerned about the "family structure", they would support equal economic rights for all couples...regardless of their orientation that would bond them legally to the financial responsibilities of a marriage. It's as though these assholes think they, and they alone know what a marriage is, and no one else.

When will the sheeple wake up to these pyschobabblers?

8. Wotta Putz...
and if these guys really want to defend "traditional marriage" maybe they should find out why it isn't working first.

Howcum we've got the highest divorce rate in the world?

9. I sent an email.
I wanted Tony Perkins to explain HOW gay and lesbian couples getting married "threatens the sancitity of marriage". Not one of those assholes ever comes up with a reason or explanation why we would "destroy the institution of marriage". Silly me, I thought that having more people getting married would STRENGTHEN marriage.

I get so sick and goddamned tired of these yahoos going on television and spewing out this "gay marriage will be the end of us" crap...and that's IT. As if we're supposed to accept their hatred of gay people (and that's what this is) at face value. As if that's supposed to be a reasonable excuse to deny people basic rights they deserve.

I don't know if my email will be on the air. But it sure felt good to make my voice heard.

11. It's Way Beyond Me...
Let me see...my wife's cousin is in a gay marriage with two wonderful children. Both have professional jobs and are supporting their parents. Both pay taxes and abide by the laws. Both would put their careers above their children's welfare. Dare a Repugnican "family values" type to do that.

I'm so sick of the Religious Right attempting to define family and marriage...considering the mysognistic world most of them live in...based on a model of repression and self-loathing. No wonder they have problems with both their sexuality and relationships.

If the Repugnicans truly supported the concept of a "traditional" family (translation: Heterosexual with 1.75 children) they'd support higher minimum wage laws, increased health and education spending and labor laws that would give families time to spend together and not have to constantly worry about wealth or health. But then that would require being the antithesis of a Repugnican...compassionate!

10. I knew that guy looked familiar
to me. Isn't he the asshole who fought the gay couple in Florida who were trying to adopt the foster children who had lived with them for YEARS? The Florida couple that Rosie O'Donnell was helping? I remember Perkins giving a speech against the adoption...I think. Am I right?
