When Will General Wesley Clark Enter the Race?
I know I've asked this many times, but I figured that I should ask it again.

2. Where?
I've heard things like this, both from others and from him, but I don't remember Clark saying that he'd tell us by the end of this month.

3. Free media
Right now he has been getting on tv and radio nearly everyday. Once he declares, this will stop. From what I can tell it will be by the end of the month approx. Is he looking at the Labor Day window?

4. It's too late for the top of the ticket...
The field is just too crowded. There is no air there.
However, I do believe he is nearly a shoo-in for V.P.

5. Not really.
He'll be at the top of the ticket in two weeks if he enters.

8. He won't win the nomination...
No matter how much I wish him well. Quite frankly, I'm not even sure he'd make that good of a candidate. He's a bit soft spoken. Despite the fact that I like the DLC's positions, their 'bend-over-and-get-the-KY' strategy against Bush really really grates on me. It's a sure way to loose the election.

Whether Dean wins the nomination or Kerry beats him, the entire Democratic party owes the Governer from Vermont a big 'thank you'.

14. Vice-President? NO WAY!!
"I do believe he is nearly a shoo-in for V.P."

When people learn about the REAL Wesley Clark there is NO WAY they would stand for this man to be anywhere NEAR the oval office. At least, not intelligent Americans.

And that INCLUDES a heartbeat away.

10. Arkansas....he has a bit in common with Clinton, actually...
Although he was born in the Chicago area, he went down to Arkansas, grew up there, etc.

Like Clinton, he was a Rhodes scholar and went to Oxford...

I'm fairly certain as a Dem he could take Arkansas.

7. If I had a donut, I'd bet that he is not entering the race....
The field is so very crowded, and I'm not sure he can raise enough support (or money) to overcome the lead that Dean, Gephardt, and Kerry have built.

11. I'd take that donut
I've been involved in the Draft Wesley Clark movement. I'm pretty sure now that he's going to enter the race. He's said to have experienced Democratic campaign advisors around him, and Congressional supporters lined up, so we're not talking about a seat-of-the-pants Perot type of thing. He's definitely going to be handicapped organizationally, but maybe not as much as it may appear.

17. So what's your point?
A long time ago I had 24 posts. So now a low poster who supports Clark is somehow suspect in your mind?

I support Clark and have lots of posts. Many of my current posts have been in support of Clark. I find him intelligent, articulate, in line with my political beliefs for the most part. As of this moment he's my first choice. We'll see how it all dusts out if he runs but one thing is for certain - the Rove crowd cannot paint him as being weak on National Security.

12. I think that's bull
Look at the polls. In New Hampshire, the number of undecideds has grown since April. And who gets excited by Lieberman or Gephardt? As soon as Clark announces, he will sap away voters from almost every candidate (though some will not lose as many supporters due to their standing in the polls, like Kerry and Dean) And why should people care whether or not many of the well-known political consultants and beltway politicians are already commited? These are the same people who forced Gore to bend over-backwards to too many constituences. These are also the same people who helped ruin our chances in the 2002 election by scrambling our message.
The punditocracy has been wrong about this election so far (look at Dean, and the role of the internet) and the overly-pragmatic analysts won't get the last word on Clark's plans.

BTW being a Four-Star General requires making many executive decisions. In practice it's closer to civilian politics than many think. Also, what about Washington, Eisenhower, Jackson, etc. they were Generals before they became President, but people didn't oppose them because they didn't hold elective office.

And will those who don't usually trust the military see through stereotpyes? Clark is not a hot-headed drill-sergent, or an ambitious would-be dictator, but he's a normal human being! And history has shown that former Generals have done as well or better in the White House than civilian Presidents.

In the fucking military where no one is allowed to think, just fucking obey orders! Yeah, that's some experience. :eyes:

Hey, our country is like that now - the media tells USians what and how to think per * and his enablers. He could slide right on in. Nothing will be different!

clark = killer

Dean = Healer
