11. No, I don't think he did.....and I watched the whole thing.
Mainly he accused the GOP of "slow walking" the information necessary for the report and redacted much of the info. He wants to make it all public.
What did he say that leads you to think he was saying Bushco LIHOP?

9. His spot is over now; talking about Louise Brown, the lst testube
baby. I turned on NOW in time to hear Max say the White House LIHOP that they didn't want the 9/11 investigation, in fact, did everything in their power to stop it, then "slow walked" the papers to the 9/11 Commission and are still trying to prevent the 9/11 Commission from carrying out its investigation. Did anyone catch the whole thing? We can go to pbs.org tomorrow to read the transcript.

we also lost a good governor in roy barnes to the redneck and racist sonny perdue (name says it all, eh) not surprisingly shrub campaigned for HIM, too...

the ajc today, though, ran a piece saying that ANDREW YOUNG is contemplating a run for the senate seat... now THAT would be incredible!!

16. No, sorry, I can't; I just flipped to the channel and the impression
I got (or misheard, perhaps) was that the White House let it happen on purpose; as I listened I realized he was talking about 9/ll. Did anyone hear his exact words? Maybe I'm finally losing it!

18. Frank Sesno can't believe the White House "Slow-walked 9-11 report"
... to buy time to launch Iraq invasion. What's Sesno's problem?

EXCERPT...

SESNO: So, where do you go that they didn't?

CLELAND: Let's talk about that here. This commission was formed about mid-December, the 9/11 Commission. We were supposed to use the joint inquiry report as a launching pad to get into this issue of not only fixing the intelligence community, but moving beyond, and getting into what is the al Qaeda all about? What is this terrorist global network that we're fighting? A new kind of war and all that.

Well, the independent, bi-partisan commission, hello, didn't even get the stuff 'til a few weeks ago.

I'm saying that's deliberate. I am saying that the delay in relating this information to the American public out of a hearing… series of hearings, that several members of Congress knew eight or ten months ago, including Bob Graham and others, that was deliberately slow walked… the 9/11 Commission was deliberately slow walked, because the Administration's policy was, and its priority was, we're gonna take Saddam Hussein out.

SESNO: Senator, do you have any documentation or any proof to back up this very serious charge of yours that this was deliberate besides your own…

CLELAND: Well, first of all…

SESNO: …hunch or gut?

CLELAND: …it's obvious.

SESNO: No, no, no, no…

CLELAND: But… but…

SESNO: …but beyond… but beyond being obvious, let me press…

CLELAND: First of all the war in Iraq…

SESNO: …you on this…

CLELAND: Yeah, okay.

SESNO: …because this is a very serious charge you're making. If you're saying that this was deliberate what I'm asking is has anybody said anything to you, from inside the Administration to support that? Have you seen any document, any memorandum that substantiates your charge?

CLELAND: Well, just look at it. Okay? This executive summary of the intelligence inquiry… the joint intelligence inquiry, the executive summary, was available December 10th. Why did it take nine months to go over what ought to be held out of that?

Now, I'm saying that that was slow walked. I am also saying why did it take eight months to get this 9/11 Commission really cranked up and going, and the first step was to use the Intelligence Committee report as a jumping off point? Why did all of this take so long?

Because the real priority of the White House was not the 9/11 Commission — they fought it. And it was just, and it really was their interest was to delay the revelation of this report.

PS: Thanks for the link, Donna Zen!

One of the reasons they didn't want it is they didn't want all this stuff out there.

21. Cleland didn't say LIHOP
He didn't say Bush knew an attack was coming and let it happen. He is saying that the 9/11 report was stalled deliberately so that it would not interfere with the regime's agenda to attack Iraq.

29. You're right, Ramblin, after reading the transcript. That's why I asked
if anyone else heard if Cleland said LIHOP. I tuned in at the time Sesno was stating that these were serious charges and did he have any documentation to back them up. As I listened and realized he was talking about 9/11 and the Commission, and Sesno pretty much attacking Cleland, I wasn't sure what Max had stated but he was pretty hot about it. Wishful thinking, on my part, perhaps.

35. Sesno was a real
dillhole. Leon Kass is a real crackpot too (they interview him for the majority of the show after Cleland). I guess NOW is trying to be "fair and balanced" so they don't lose even more funding. Oh well, it's still the only program outside of "the Daily Show" with a shred a liberalism left in it.

39. A tactic of NOW is to ask the question the Silent Majority would ask
A guest will say something we here at DU know already and Bill Moyers will come back with a "but, what about...?" Quite brilliant, actually. He can keep the somnolent audience and still get the info out there without being seen as too far left or a "conspiracy nut." It used to irritate me until I recognized the method.

Haven't seen the show tonight, yet. Can't wait. :bounce:

20. He is a powerful guy
If only he had let that same sense of conviction out during the Georgia race.

He didn't say the White House LIHOP. But he did say, in effect, that they screwed up and have done everything possible to keep it secret by bogging down the 9-11 investigations. He also said they also did it to diflect attention from the real War on Terror, i.e. Osama and Islamic militants, so they could get America worked up about Iraq instead.

He also said Iraq is a new Viet Nam. He said the same pattern is there, and that we are on a fool's mission over there. He is pissed about American soldiers dying and being wounded in a doomed mission.
