Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri: We are holding his wife and family
1. Is this legal under Geneva Convention?
2. Anyone think this is why LaHood can say we are very close to capturing and/or killing Saddam?
3. Is this action something that sets a new low precedent for other coutnries to begin to target the families of American leaders?

The media hasn't said much about this so it must be true.

6. Debka is disinformation, IMHO
And the fact that this is what they put out in their disinformation rag is creepy in it's ghostly echo of Nazis.

Perhaps he'll be "shot while trying to escape".

Not that I will shed any tears for this murderous f*cker. It's just creepy.

3. Well,
1. Is this legal under Geneva Convention?

What's a Geneva? The convention is in New York, isn't it?

2. Anyone think this is why LaHood can say we are very close to capturing and/or killing Saddam?

Is this one of the boyz in the hood? Why does he think we need to kill the semi-elected president (why does that sound so familiar?)

3. Is this action something that sets a new low precedent for other coutnries to begin to target the families of American leaders?

Well, why not? It was S.O.P. for the Old Testament guys who were instructed by Jehovah to kill off families and descendants. Plenty of precedent for the neo-con bastards.

7. LOL!
Uncomfortably close to the truth, I'm afraid.

Though I don't think Saddam ever went through the legal niceties when he seized power. He didn't have his Daddies' friends desecrate 225 years of Free Elections (which had been done before, sadly, but never quite this unConstitutionally even flouting legal reasoning).

So the Emperor* has that over ol' Saddam, he does.

9. I think Bush has a lot over Saddam as a despot
He has 50% of the American public behind him, the US Congress, and the US Supreme Court. Saddam couldn't claim that about the Iraqis.

10. We reached this low last year
They were kidnapping the families of 'Taliban sympathizers' last year in Afghanistan, so it's not actually a new thing.

And yes, no doubt this will lead to the families of American leaders getting targeted. There's a saying I remember about chickens and roosts...
